JOB: Operator

DEPARTMENT: Utilities

RATE OF PAY: $37.69

Schedule: Tuesday-Saturday 2nd shift (3p-11p)

ALTERNATE WORK WEEK

In addition to the following, employees are responsible for understanding the relevance and importance of the individual's activities in contributing to food safety, and reporting situations that may impact food safety.

STATEMENT OF THE JOB:

Operate and maintain the steam, refrigeration, compressed air and heating systems in the Champaign plant

following PSM guidelines.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The employee is responsible for the following duties:

1. Perform the duties of the Utilities department consistent with plant policy and standards with respect to product

quality, GMPs and safety.

2. Operate boilers, ammonia refrigeration system and compressed air system.

3. Participate and be active in the Process Safety Management (PSM) program.

4. The safe and efficient operation of boilers, compressors, condensers and all other equipment associated with

the Utilities department.

5. Monitor fire alarm panel, coordinate response team.

6. Ammonia evacuation.

7. Operate and maintain chilled water system.

8. Monitor chemical treatment for cooling towers and boiler water.

9. Must be able to pass a respirator fit test.

10. Preventive maintenance on all equipment associated with the Utilities department (i.e., air compressors,

pumps, air handler filters, cooler equipment, air handlers, steam system).

11. Disassemble, clean, inspect, repair and reassemble all equipment associated with the Utilities department.

12. Ammonia, HVAC and all refrigeration controls.

13. Utilities stockroom.

14. Exhaust fans (building).

15. Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

16. Position may include quality checks, including but not limited to, GMP, HACCP, and temp chart calibrations.

17. Know, understand, and comply with Kraft Food's Environmental Policy.

18. Reduce Kraft's Environmental footprint.

Safety Responsibility

Responsible for wearing proper PPE, compliance of safety training, policy & procedures and report any unsafe

safety conditions to a Supervisor/Management.

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

Steam Boiler operation and refrigeration background required. Minimum of four years experience. Plus the

following:

1. License in Freon refrigeration repair

2. Freon refrigeration license on all window units, cabinet coolers, water fountains, refrigerators, all main plant

freon refrigeration units.

3. Steam boiler operation and maintenance

4. Must understand and have basic knowledge of the refrigeration and air conditioning cycle.

5. Operation and maintenance of refrigeration and air conditioning compressors, including screw, vane and

reciprocating

6. Operation and maintenance of evaporative condenser system

7. Knowledge in procedures for water treatment systems associated with boiler feed water, cooling towers and

condensers

8. Operation and maintenance of compressed air equipment including reciprocating, screw and centrifugal

9. Thorough knowledge of boiler control instrumentation devices including pressure gauges and transmitting

devices, flow meters, temperature gauges and transmitters, combustion control, feedwater control and safety

devices.

EQUIPMENT OPERATED:

Steam boilers, ammonia refrigeration equipment, air compressors, cooling towers, all HVAC equipment, all Freon

systems, lift trucks, manlifts.

RESPONSIBILITY OF EQUIPMENT OPERATED:

Employee is responsible for assuring equipment is in a safe operable condition and must operate the equipment in

a safe manner.

VALUE OF MATERIAL:

$500.00 or greater.

LIFTING REQUIREMENTS:

Maximum lifting permissible by OSHA.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

High heat, extreme cold, outside building all seasons, inside building, working in confined spaces, restricted areas, may have need to wear respirator or SCBA equipment, working in environment where anhydrous ammonia fumes may be present.

RESPONSIBILITY OF EQUIPMENT OPERATED:

Employee is responsible for assuring equipment is in a safe operable condition and must operate the equipment in a safe manner.

VALUE OF MATERIAL:

$500.00 or greater.
