Job Details:
Job Description: Boiler Operator
Pay Range: $30 - $35 per hour (plus shift differential)
Shift: Night (12-hour shift, 5:45 PM to 6:15 AM)
Position supports a 24/7 operation and will work a 2-2-3 schedule
(ELIGIBLE FOR SIGN-ON BONUS -$3,500).
Status: Non-Exempt
Essential Job Functions:
  • Operate, monitor, troubleshoot, and maintain high-pressure boiler systems up to 2,000 HP and related utility equipment.
  • Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on boilers, pumps, piping systems, compressors, water treatment systems, and associated utilities equipment.
  • Troubleshoot boiler, pump, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and control system issues to minimize downtime and maintain safe operations.
  • Maintain proper steam pressure, water levels, temperatures, chemical treatment balances, and operational efficiency.
  • Perform work at elevated heights, including painting and identification/color coding of piping systems; safely operate or be willing to train on man lifts and related access equipment.
  • Troubleshoot instrumentation includes pH meters, temperature sensors, flow meters, and pressure devices.
  • Conduct inspections, testing, startup/shutdown procedures, and operational checks on utility systems and equipment.
  • Accurately complete operational logs, maintenance records, SOPs, inspections, and CMMS (computerized maintenance management systems) documentation using Microsoft Office applications and plant maintenance systems.
  • Support development and adherence to training procedures, SOPs, GMPs, food safety, and plant safety requirements.
  • Respond quickly to utility failures and emergency equipment conditions.
  • Collaborate with production, maintenance, quality, and sanitation teams to support plant operations and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of boiler room and utilities areas.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills:
  • Valid New Jersey Blue Seal (1-C) Stationary Engineer.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience operating and maintaining boilers above 500 HP in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills involving boilers, pumps, piping systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and utility equipment.
  • Familiarity with HVAC systems, compressors, and utility support equipment preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, electrical schematics, operating manuals, and safety procedures.
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office for operational logs, recordkeeping, and reporting.
  • Experience using CMMS systems and maintaining accurate maintenance documentation.
  • Ability to work independently and respond effectively in high-pressure situations.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, overtime, weekends, and emergency call-ins as required.

Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma required.
  • Minimum of 3 yrs experience High-Speed Manufacturing maintenance environment.

Working Conditions:
  • Physical-Continuously standing or walking. Regular requirements to lift/handle/carry material or equipment of moderate weight.
  • Visual/Sensory-This position requires regular need to give moderate attention with one or two senses at a time.
  • Work environment- Work and environment are very repetitive.
  • Mental Stress- There is pronounced pressure from deadlines, production quotas, accuracy or similar demands.

  • May be minimal travel required as needed for training.
