Job description

At Chick-fil-A, the Back-of-House (BOH) Manager is critical in ensuring our guests receive the highest-quality food in support of our commitment to service with genuine hospitality. As a BOH Manager at Chick-fil-A Seaford FSR, you will lead kitchen operations to produce high-quality and safe food, drive team performance, and sustain operational efficiency.

This role includes training and developing team members, maintaining quality and safety standards, and supporting daily shift execution while modeling Chick-fil-A's values and culture. You will serve as a direct-report to our BOH Director and play a pivotal role in goal setting, systems and process development and optimization, financial stewardship, Team Member and subordinate leader development, and upholding our brand's high standards and team-based culture.

We are seeking an experienced leader to work alongside the BOH Director and support the Owner/Operator in managing all aspects of BOH operations - including food preparation, food safety, quality assurance and control, supply chain, equipment maintenance, scheduling, and the welfare of our most precious resource - our team members!

Leadership experience is required for this position, but it is not specific to the restaurant industry. This leader must be 100% passionate and invested about growing themselves and the business, be a self-starter and hold themself and others to a high standard, capable of driving a business' growth and performance, be well organized, accepting of accountability and ownership of their responsibilities, and forward thinking. They will work directly alongside both the team during operations and with senior leaders to create great business results and care for our team and guests.

Scope of Position:

  • The Back of House Manager is a leader responsible for overseeing the success of Chick-fil-A Seaford's kitchen - ensuring the restaurant is meeting all standards and procedures relating to food handling, preparation, quality, cleanliness and safety.
  • The Back of House Manager is also responsible for maintaining equipment and ensuring proper inventory levels.
  • The Back of House Manager is responsible for understanding and ensuring effective implementation of Chick-fil-A Seaford's execution of the Chick-fil-A "Winning Hearts Everyday" strategy. This includes creating and implementing best practices, policies, and procedures around delivering craveable food, fast and accurate service, food safety, a welcoming, clean and safe environment, optimizing our guests' experience and the restaurant's performance in meeting guest needs.
  • Currently, this position reports directly to the Chick-fil-A Seaford Back of House Director.

Responsibilities:

  • General: Participate operationally in day-to-day activities in high-volume, fast-paced Restaurant. Offer immediate and respectful response to Guest's needs. Assist in training of new hires, set the tone for a shift, and act as a role model for our team. Be a friendly, encouraging team player. Open and/or close, lead shifts, and serve as a key holder. Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken.
  • Leadership: Provide strong leadership and guidance to the back of house team, including team members, trainers, shift leaders and back of house managers to ensure smooth operations and consistent food quality.
  • Food Preparation/Production:Oversee the safe preparation, cooking and presentation of menu items according to Chick-fil-A's high-quality standards and specifications.
  • Inventory Management: Manage inventory levels, ordering, and storage of ingredients and supplies, ensuring optimal stock levels while minimizing waste minimizing, food cost and labor. Optimize productivity Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Kitchen Operations: Maintain a well-organized kitchen environment, including equipment maintenance, cleanliness, and compliance with food safety regulations.
  • Menu Development/Innovation: Collaborate with certified trainers, the Back of House Director, and Training and Leadership Development Director to deploy and train employees on new menu items, limited-time offers, promotions, and seasonal specials that align with Chick-fil-A's brand and customer preferences.
  • Quality Control: Implement quality control measures to consistently deliver exceptional food products and uphold Chick-fil-A's taste and presentation standards, performing to performance standards.
  • Cost Control: Monitor and manage kitchen-related expenses, including food costs, labor costs, and waste reduction, to meet budgetary goals while maintaining food quality.
  • Collaboration:Work closely with FOH staff, including the management team and FOH Team members, to ensure seamless coordination and exceptional guest experiences.
  • Compliance/Safety: Ensure compliance with local health department regulations, food safety standards, and Chick-fil-A's operational policies, taking necessary actions to address any violations or concerns.
  • Flexibility: Willingness to work in any staff position if needed, stepping in to support kitchen operations and provide hands-on assistance.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Prior experience in a culinary leadership role, preferably as shift lead, crew lead, supervisor, team lead, restaurant manager, restaurant assistant manager in a fast-food or quick-service restaurant setting.
  • Strong knowledge of kitchen operations, food preparation, and food safety practices.
  • Proficiency in inventory management, cost control, and kitchen organization.
  • Flexibility to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays.
  • Familiarity with Chick-fil-A brand and values is desirable.
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of all Chick-fil-A restaurant operations, menu, recipes, policies, and procedures is desirable.
  • Relevant culinary certifications or education is a plus. ServSafe certification is encouraged.
