Job Description:
This role is a limited term assignment targeted to end by October 2026, with possibility of extension through end of 2026.
WHAT AWAITS YOU.
  • Participate in interaction design across a wide range of projects, carrying work from early concepts through testing, prototyping, and final delivery.
  • Mentor junior designers, maintaining a balance of skill development, quality, consistency, and encouragement.
  • Designs, tests, and prototypes of new or improved UI concepts, aiming to exceed project objectives with high-quality solutions.
  • Take on complex and ambiguous assignments where the answer requires creative problem solving and analysis.
  • Evaluates UI/UX concepts for usability, aesthetics, functionality, production methods, and client specifications, integrating user research and rough concepts into resolved design.
  • Works in cross-functional, agile teams using design thinking; assist in presenting work to colleagues and clients, and fold required modifications back into the design.
  • Commits to ongoing learning, accurate effort estimation, knowledge sharing, and supporting research and vendor relationships.

WHAT YOU SHOULD BRING.
  • Bachelor's degree in Interaction Design or equivalent.
  • 5-7 years of prior work experience in Interaction/UI/UX Design or equivalent.
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of design principles, methods and techniques, production processes, consulting, market research and commercial awareness.
  • A portfolio that shows depth of visual craft: typography, layout, hierarchy, color, and composition handled with intention.
  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills.
  • Strong computer and software skills in: Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office Suite, Figma or other cloud collaboration and prototyping tools.
  • Comfort using AI tools as part of your design workflow (e.g. ChatGPT, Claude, Figma AI, Midjourney, or similar) and curiosity about designing for AI-powered products.
  • Preferences:
    • Knowledge of 3D applications (Blender, Cinema 4D, etc.)
    • Knowledge of Motion Graphics Tools (After Effects, Rive, etc.)
    • Knowledge of common interaction programming languages (Processing, JavaScript, HTML, etc.).

The expected salary range for this position is $118,161.00 - 152,914.00.

In support of BMW Group's business objectives, this position requires regular attendance at a BMW office/facility with remote work capability (hybrid).
The selected candidate's education, skills, experience, and location will be used to determine the final salary offer. All pay ranges are based on a full-time work schedule. This statement is in accordance with state and local pay disclosure requirements.
Specifics: Position reports to Matthew Potter, Director, Interaction Design, LA. It is Santa Monica, CA based and is in function level EL VI exempt. The selected candidate's Personal Grade (PG) and geographical location will be used as the final components of the salary band assignment. Relocation assistance is not available.
