Entertainment & Copyright/IP Paralegal
Portland, Maine
Drummond Woodsum is seeking an Entertainment & Copyright/IP Paralegal to join our firm and support our growing Entertainment and Intellectual Property practices. This position includes work across copyrights, trademarks, and a dynamic entertainment portfolio spanning music, literary publishing, film, television, podcasting, creator media, and the visual and performing arts. This is a vibrant and fast-paced practice offering meaningful opportunities for both technical and substantive professional growth.
Responsibilities:
  • Manage client copyright catalog systems, including data, deadlines, ownership, and usage tracking
  • Coordinate intake of copyright and IP information with clients and estates
  • Assist with copyright registrations (U.S. Copyright Office and WIPO)
  • Reconcile music catalogs and royalty statements with ASCAP/BMI, The Mechanical Licensing Collective, and SoundExchange
  • Prepare and track trademark applications, maintenance, and renewals
  • Draft and revise entertainment agreements under attorney guidance
  • Conduct IP research and prepare licensing, rights holder, and clearance reports

Qualifications:
  • Tech-forward experience with cloud systems, databases, Microsoft 365, and vendor/payment platforms
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and recordkeeping
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word, and PDF tools
  • Self-starter who is proactive and able to work independently
  • Motivated to learn and produce high-quality work
