Job description

Job Title: Senior Project Engineer โ€“ Utilities

Location: Lebanon (On-site: 3 days/week, transitioning to 5 days/week during summer)

Contract Duration: 60 Months

Client: Pharmaceutical Manufacturing

Role Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Engineer โ€“ Utilities to support a large-scale pharmaceutical project. This role will focus on the execution and delivery of utility systems within a GMP-regulated environment.

The successful candidate will take ownership of utility equipment scope, ensuring delivery aligns with project objectives across cost, schedule, quality, and compliance, while safeguarding owner interests.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Leadership & Oversight:

  • Lead utility equipment scope as the primary technical representative
  • Ensure EPCM contractors deliver according to approved scope, schedule, budget, and quality standards
  • Challenge and validate EPCM recommendations to protect project and owner interests

Commercial & Contract Management:

  • Review and evaluate award recommendations, change orders, and field changes
  • Assess impacts on cost, schedule, and execution
  • Manage vendor coordination from design through FAT, delivery, and site support

Technical Coordination:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Process, Piping, E&I, Automation, C&Q, and Facilities
  • Participate in constructability, maintainability, and schedule reviews
  • Track equipment progress and proactively mitigate vendor and delivery risks

Field & Installation Support:

  • Maintain a strong on-site presence as required
  • Ensure installations meet design specifications, GMP, and safety standards
  • Partner with construction, QA/QC, and HSE teams to resolve field issues and NCRs
  • Support walkdowns, punch lists, and system turnover readiness

Commissioning & Qualification:

  • Support commissioning, qualification, and validation activities for utility systems
  • Review and approve turnover documentation
  • Coordinate with Operations and Quality teams for successful system handover

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or related Engineering discipline
  • 10+ years of experience in pharmaceutical or biotech engineering/project management
  • Strong expertise in utility systems (WFI, clean steam, HVAC, chillers, and process utilities)
  • Proven experience in GMP environments, including validation and vendor management
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic project environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PMP or equivalent project management certification
  • Hands-on experience with commissioning and qualification activities
  • Experience in large greenfield or facility expansion projects
