On time. In Budget. To specification. Role Specification: We are looking for a highly passionate individual who believes that innovative prosthetic solutions can enhance a patient's quality of life. As our Certified Prosthetist/Orthotist, your goal is to deliver state-of-the-art prostheses and excellent services to clinical partners and users of our cutting-edge assistive technology. With ambitious growth plans, this role will enable you to grow your experience, skills and responsibilities along with the company. Your role will be to become a specialist in fitting Open Bionics' patients with the device of their need and choosing. You will provide the full workflow of building and fitting check-sockets, including the delivery of training to patients so they get the most out of their prosthesis. You will already have the highest standards of customer service along with the interest to specialise in upper limb prosthetics, as you will eventually be expected to manage your own clinic. You will ultimately command an excellent understanding of the partial hand, below-elbow, and above-elbow solutions we offer and become a clinicial ambassador for the company. As this is a high responsibility level position, you should have the drive and passion to lead the industry forward with new ideas. You will approach your clinical work with a business owner's mindset, optimizing for great patient experiences and workflow efficiencies. Key responsibilities:
  • Responsible for delivering the highest standard of clinical services to Open Bionics customers in accordance with our core values.
  • Providing training and ongoing support for patients on using their upper limb prosthesis to achieve certain activities of daily living and personal goals.
  • Educating and certifying prosthetic care providers on our systems and devices.
  • Tracking performance via customer feedback, metrics and data from our ERP system to make smart decisions for growth.
  • Reviewing potential users' eligibility for our devices and supporting trials with clinical partners when required.
  • Coordinating clinical input to improve the adoption rate, prescription and funding applications of patients.
  • Providing internal clinical input to Open Bionics developers on product development on both hardware and software products. Testing new versions or products considering the expected clinical benefits for both clinicians and users. Contributing to create and maintain documentation for clinicians and end-users.
  • Active participation in relevant consumer or trade shows, exhibitions and conferences including supporting booth activities, workshops and communications.
  • Contribution to clinical research projects/publications aiming to reinforce the clinical value and benefits of the solutions developed by Open Bionics.
  • Taking an active role in research and development projects of new technologies that aid clinicians.
  • Providing a patient-centered approach to upper limb prosthetic rehabilitation and continuous support to our users.
  • Attend and host a weekly satellite visit once per quarter.
A successful first six months at Open Bionics would include:
  • Developing a sustainable and efficient clinical workflow/pipeline, in conjunction with Open Bionics' UK and US clinics.
Person Scorecard:
  • Certified Prosthetist who has recently graduated or has 1 - 5 years minimum experience in the field of Orthotics and Prosthetics. Previous experience in delivering prosthetic solutions for persons with upper limb absence (including myoelectric/multiarticulating/bionic componentry) would be advantageous but not necessary.
  • Evidence-based practice approach to patient care with a demonstrable understanding of Open Bionics' vision.
  • Proficient with methods of shape capture and rectification (experience with 3D scanning technologies and digital rectification platforms is preferred).
  • Ability to outline an appropriate prosthetic prescription for those upper limb absence and evidence of creative problem-solving.
  • Excellent patient care and exceedingly high motivation to give patients the best experience possible, and monitoring patient outcomes.
  • Dedication to creating successful patient outcomes defined by the patient.
  • Must be certified by either the Board of Orthotist/Prosthetist Certification (BOC) or by the American Board for Certification in Orthotics and Prosthetics (ABC) as Prosthetist or Orthotist/Prosthetist.
