Job description

Koniag IT Systems, LLC, a Koniag Government Services company, is seeking a Senior Systems Administrator/ Patch Manager to support KITS and our government customer in Carson, CA. This position is for a Future New Business Opportunity.
The customer may need support as needed at other locations Columbus, OH, Bedford, MA, Fort Lee, VA, and Smyrna, GA.

This role is responsible for managing the daily operations while with an additional focus on the Continuous Monitoring and Vulnerability Management lifecycle required to maintain the agency's Authority to Operate (ATO).
Essential Functions, Responsibilities & Duties may include, but are not limited to:
Technology Experience:
  • Experience in IBM BigFix Action script action relevance, Powershell, Command Prompt (CMD), Disk Operating System (DOS), Unix Shell script command (SH) and many others to fit each Operating Systems, including Windows, RHEL, MAC.
  • Experience with Microsoft automated patching & software delivery tools (System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) and HCL BigFix.

OS Experience:
  • Environment is primarily in Windows OS, Linux, Windows Server - must show experience and competence across multiple platforms

Automated Patch Deployment:
  • Lead the enterprise-wide distribution of security patches, hotfixes, and service packs using tools like MECM (Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager/SCCM) or Tanium.

Vulnerability Remediation:
  • Analyze ACAS (Assured Compliance Assessment Solution/Nessus) scan results to identify "High" and "Critical" vulnerabilities and execute remediation plans within mandated DoD timelines (e.g., IAVA/IAVB deadlines).

Baseline Configuration:
  • Develop and maintain "Gold Master" images for servers and workstations that are pre-hardened according to DISA STIGs.

Tier III Support:
  • Serve as the final escalation point for complex system failures, registry issues, or botched updates that disrupt mission-critical contract management software.

Compliance Reporting:
  • Generate weekly and monthly compliance dashboards for the federal Information Assurance (IA) team to prove the agency's security posture.

Required Qualifications:
Clearance Requirement:
  • Most roles require at least a Secret clearance, with some requiring Top Secret (TS/SCI) depending on the sensitivity of the systems.

Certification (DoD 8570):
  • Must meet IAT Level II (Security+ CE) at a minimum, though IAT Level III (CASP+ or CISSP) is often preferred for "Senior" designated roles.

Computing Environment (CE):
  • Requires a vendor-specific certification such as Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate.

Experience:
  • 7+ years in Systems Administration with at least 3 years focused specifically on enterprise-level patch management in a DoD environment.
