Job Summary
The Lead Pre-K Teacher is responsible for creating a safe, nurturing, Christ-centered classroom where children ages 4โ€“5 develop academically, socially, emotionally, and spiritually in preparation for kindergarten. This position provides leadership within the classroom, ensures licensing compliance, communicates professionally with families, and models The Midwest Playhouse's mission and values.
Responsibilities
Classroom Leadership
  • Lead daily classroom routines and maintain a structured, engaging learning environment.
  • Plan and implement developmentally appropriate lesson plans aligned with Missouri Early Learning Standards.
  • Prepare children for kindergarten through hands-on learning and play-based instruction.
  • Foster independence, confidence, problem-solving, and positive social skills.
  • Maintain classroom organization, cleanliness, and readiness each day.

  • Lead and mentor assistant teachers.

Licensing & Professional Development
Must:
  • Maintain current CPR & First Aid Certification.
  • Complete all Missouri licensing-required annual training.

  • Maintain Safe Sleep certification if required.
  • Attend all mandatory staff meetings and professional development sessions.

Qualifications
  • CDA, associate's degree, or bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education (or willingness to obtain required credentials).
  • Experience leading a preschool or Pre-K classroom.
  • Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
  • Passion for early childhood education and faith-based learning.
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
