Life.Church wants to make a lasting difference in your life, in our community, and in the world. Our mission is to
lead people to become fully devoted followers of Christ. That's how we’re able to make a difference, and it's the
driving force behind everything we do.
The Senior Quality Engineer is primarily responsible for leading quality across mobile and web products—designing
test strategies, executing manual and automated testing, and advancing test automation. This role partners closely
with developers, product managers, and designers to ship reliable, high-quality Bible experiences. The Senior
Quality Engineer mentors other quality engineers, advances quality engineering practices, and embeds quality early
in the development process so that what we ship reflects both engineering excellence and the weight of the
mission behind it.
The Senior Quality Engineer utilizes their skills to deliver technical outcomes that align with the direction of their
team to further Life.Church’s mission and to reach people for Christ.
What You'll Do
Define & Drive Quality Strategy
- Own test strategy and quality across our iOS, Android, and web Bible App experiences — definingwhat to test, when, and how to balance manual, exploratory, and automated coverage based on risk.
- Define and maintain automated API, contract, and integration testing strategies to validatebackend services that support Bible App experiences.
- Lead feature-flag and experiment QA — validating flag-on and flag-off states, configuring QAtesters per variant, confirming exposure events, and partnering with Product on safe phasedrollouts and A/B test integrity.
- Own release health — interpreting crash-free-rate, ANRs, and hang metrics from our observabilitytooling; correlating issues to releases and experiment variants; defining quality gates that failbuilds on regression.
- Drive production quality initiatives through monitoring, synthetic testing, release validation, incident analysis, root-cause investigations, and quality-driven postmortems.
- Track and report quality metrics (defect density, escape rate, test execution time, crash-free rate)to engineering leadership and product partners.
- Define and maintain automated API, contract, and integration testing strategies to validate backend services that support Bible App experiences, including integration of automated testing into CI/CD pipelines.
Execute & Validate Quality
- Execute thoughtful manual and exploratory testing of new features, release candidates, and edgecases — including app lifecycle events, offline behavior, network conditions, device/OS variability, and the App Store / Play Store release process.
- Champion mobile accessibility — manual VoiceOver and TalkBack sweeps of critical flows, automated accessibility checks, so the Bible App works well for every user.
- Estimate, prioritize, and organize testing across multiple projects, balancing thoroughness withthe release pace.
- Design, develop, and maintain automated API, contract, and integration tests that validatebackend services supporting Bible App experiences.
Collaborate, Mentor & Improve
- Partner with engineers and product managers to shift quality left — joining refinement, contributing to acceptance criteria, reviewing PRs, and pairing on test design so issues arecaught before they ship.
- Mentor and develop other quality engineers by sharing knowledge, raising the teamʼs quality bar,and helping junior and mid-level engineers grow into stronger QEs.
- Drive continuous improvement of our QE tools, frameworks, and processes, while evaluating newapproaches, including AI-augmented testing, and bringing the best ones to the team.
- Collaborate with peers across YouVersion Engineering to embed QE practices into how everysquad ships.

While we unite around our mission, we know unity doesn’t mean uniformity.
