HR Benefits Assistant – Be the Go-To Benefits Guru!

Location: Sugarland, Tx (Hybrid after 90 days)
Department: Human Resources Department
Reports To: Benefits Manager
Compensation: $20- $22 per hour
Shift Options: Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM

POSITION SUMMARY:

As a Benefits Assistant at GetixHealth, you will play a key role in supporting our Human Resources team by administering day-to-day benefits operations and ensuring employees receive accurate, timely support. You’ll be responsible for helping employees understand and navigate their benefits while maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, detail-oriented environment and takes pride in delivering high-quality support and service.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide administrative support for daily Benefits operations and employee inquiries.
  • Respond to employee questions regarding health, dental, vision, life insurance, PTO, and retirement benefits.
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment and benefits regulations.
  • Conduct research on regulatory changes and assess impact to HR processes.
  • Administer and track Leave of Absence (LOA) programs across multiple states.
  • Support new hire orientation by assisting with benefits presentations and enrollment.
  • Assist with Open Enrollment planning and system updates (UKG).
  • Coordinate and support wellness initiatives, including events and programs.
  • Verify employee eligibility and process benefits enrollments, including dependent verification.
  • Maintain accurate employee benefits data and documentation in HRIS systems.
  • Partner with Payroll on benefit deduction updates related to LOAs.
  • Monitor benefits inboxes and respond to routine inquiries promptly.
  • Ensure strict confidentiality of employee information and compliance with HIPAA.
  • Support information security practices and report potential risks.
  • Perform additional duties to support team and organizational success

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

    • Prior experience in HR or Benefits is preferred but not required.
    • Basic understanding of employment laws and HR processes.
    • Knowledge of HIPAA, FMLA, Medicare, and related regulations preferred.
    • Experience working with HRIS systems (UKG a plus).
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
    • High level of confidentiality, accountability, and passion for helping people.

      WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

      • Office-based role requiring long periods of sitting and regular use of standard office equipment (PC, phone, keyboard, etc.).

      • Occasional lifting may be required up to 25 lbs.

      • Must be able to sit for extended periods of time with frequent bending and stooping
