What you'll do:
  • Support the design of high voltage battery pack components across commercial and defense aircraft programs, under the guidance of senior engineers.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders including CAE engineers, quality, testing, supply chain, and manufacturing.
  • Assist with hands-on prototyping, building, and testing throughout the design cycle.
  • Support integration and certification teams in ensuring designs meet FAA certification requirements.
  • Contribute fresh ideas to help push battery design boundaries for aerospace applications.
  • Learn and apply Archer's design standards and best practices for battery design.
  • Assist with root cause analysis and troubleshooting under senior engineer supervision.
  • Help maintain documentation to support the battery hardware technology roadmap.

What you need:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
  • 0-2 years of mechanical design experience; internships or co-ops in battery design, automotive, or aerospace are a plus.
  • Foundational understanding of engineering fundamentals (structural design, materials, heat transfer, fluids, etc.).
  • Familiarity with CAD (NX preferred), tolerance stack analysis, and 2D drafting with GD&T.
  • Exposure to manufacturing processes in prototype and/or mass production settings.
  • Willingness to learn simplified tools, calculations, and CAE methods to support development.
  • Eagerness for hands-on prototype and build experience.
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
