Overview and Key Responsibilities

This internship is designed to provide hands-on experience in energy efficiency, customer engagement, and field-based project support. The role is primarily focused on supporting on-site building assessments and helping identify opportunities for energy efficiency upgrades. Responsibilities include visiting customer sites, assisting with energy assessments, documenting existing building conditions, taking measurements and photos, completing assessment forms, supporting follow-up activities, and assisting with additional business and program-related tasks as needed.

  • Interest in energy efficiency, sustainability, business, engineering, or a related field demonstrated through coursework, internships, or projects
  • Strong communication skills and professionalism when interacting with customers and team members
  • Comfortable visiting customer sites and working in field environments
  • Organized with strong attention to detail and follow-through
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and stay on top of responsibilities
  • Willingness to learn technical concepts related to energy efficiency, utility programs, and building systems
  • Self-motivated, dependable, and willing to collaborate with colleagues

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook, as well as digital tools and apps

What We Are Looking For

  • Current junior or senior in college, current trade school student, or recent graduate
  • Study or Degree in environmental science, engineering, business, or technical field preferred but not required
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States; visa sponsorship is not available for this role
  • Must own a reliable vehicle and be willing to drive throughout Massachusetts. Mileage reimbursement will be provided.
  • Must be based in the Northampton, Amherst, or Springfield, MA area
  • Physical ability to climb ladders, inspect basements and attics, take measurements as needed
  • Must pass a mandatory background check
