Job description

About the Organization

The Fredericksburg Nationals are the Single-A affiliate of the Washington Nationals, competing in the Carolina League and playing home games at Virginia Credit Union Stadium in Fredericksburg, VA. The club is part of Diamond Baseball Holdings (DBH), the largest operator of Minor League Baseball teams in the country with 49 clubs in its portfolio. DBH provides centralized support across HR, finance, legal, payroll, and marketing, giving club leadership the infrastructure to focus on driving revenue, building culture, and delivering an exceptional fan experience.

Position Overview

The Vice President will serve as the top executive leader of the Fredericksburg Nationals, responsible for the overall business performance and day-to-day operations of the club. This role provides strategic and operational leadership across all revenue-generating functions, including ticket sales, corporate partnerships, food and beverage, merchandise, and stadium operations, while building a high-performing staff culture aligned with DBH values and standards.

This is an opportunity for an experienced sports business leader to step into a complex, high-visibility role and make a meaningful impact on a club with significant growth potential in the DC/Richmond corridor.

Key Responsibilities

Business Leadership & Strategy

  • Own full P&L responsibility for the Fredericksburg Nationals, including revenue forecasting, expense management, and annual budget development in partnership with DBH Finance.

  • Set and execute a multi-year business strategy aligned with DBH goals and the club's market opportunity.

  • Serve as the primary relationship owner with the Washington Nationals (MLB affiliate partner), league officials, and key community stakeholders.

  • Represent the Fredericksburg Nationals at DBH leadership meetings, league events, and in the local market.

Revenue Generation

  • Drive revenue across all business lines: group and season ticket sales, corporate sponsorships and partnerships, premium hospitality, food and beverage, merchandise, and non-baseball events.

  • Set annual sales targets and hold department leaders accountable for performance against goals.

  • Identify and develop new revenue opportunities, including community events, stadium rentals, and market-specific programming.

People Leadership

  • Lead, develop, and retain a staff of full-time and seasonal employees, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and excellence.

  • Partner with DBH HR on recruiting, onboarding, performance management, and employee relations.

  • Build organizational depth by identifying and developing internal talent for future leadership roles.

Stadium Operations & Fan Experience

  • Oversee gameday operations, facility management, and the overall fan experience to ensure consistent delivery of a high-quality, safe, and welcoming environment.

  • Manage vendor and contractor relationships, including food service, facilities, and entertainment partners.

  • Ensure compliance with MiLB facility standards, league requirements, and local regulatory obligations.

DBH Partnership & Compliance

  • Work closely with DBH regional and functional leadership (HR, Finance, Legal, Marketing, Ticketing) to align club operations with enterprise standards.

  • Ensure compliance with all DBH policies, MiLB rules, and applicable employment and operational regulations.

  • Participate in DBH-wide initiatives and contribute to the broader organization's knowledge base and best practices.

Qualifications

Required

  • 8+ years of progressive leadership experience in Minor League Baseball, professional sports, or live entertainment/events.

  • Demonstrated success in a GM, President, VP, or equivalent top-leadership role with full P&L accountability.

  • Proven track record of driving revenue growth across multiple business lines.

  • Strong people leadership skills with experience building and managing high-performing teams.

  • Exceptional communication, relationship management, and stakeholder engagement skills.

  • Ability to relocate to the Fredericksburg, VA area.

Preferred

  • Experience operating within a multi-team ownership group or enterprise sports organization.

  • Familiarity with the DC/Richmond/Virginia market.

  • Experience navigating affiliate relationships with MLB organizations.

Compensation & Benefits

Diamond Baseball Holdings offers a competitive compensation package commensurate with experience, including a base salary, performance incentives, and access to DBH's full benefits program. Relocation assistance is available for the right candidate.
