Job Description
Northland Community & Technical College invites applications for the position of Head Men's Baseball Coach This part-time role is responsible for leading, developing, and managing all aspects of the men's baseball program while supporting Northland's mission to transform the lives of students and our communities through a welcoming, supportive, and integrated learning environment.
The coach will recruit and mentor student-athletes who can thrive academically, socially, and athletically at Northland. Responsibilities include program leadership, practice and competition preparation, administrative management, compliance oversight within institutional, conference, and NJCAA regulations, and community engagement. Significant travel is required for recruitment and competition.
Key Responsibilities
Program Leadership & Coaching
  • Provide leadership, vision, and strategic direction for the men's baseball program.
  • Recruit, train, and coach student-athletes committed to academic and athletic success.
  • Develop and implement a structured practice schedule that supports individual and team development.
  • Prepare athletes for competition through effective instruction, scouting, and strategy.
  • Promote the health, safety, and well-being of all student-athletes.
  • Establish and maintain high standards of conduct, discipline, and team culture.

Administrative & Operational Management
  • Oversee scheduling of competitions, practices, and facility use.
  • Organize and coordinate team travel for road competitions.
  • Manage program budgets, purchasing, and financial processes in accordance with Minnesota State and Northland policies.
  • Ensure proper care, maintenance, and inventory of equipment, uniforms, and supplies.
  • Hire, supervise, and evaluate assistant coaches and support staff.
  • Assist in generating additional funds to support program needs.
  • Recruit an increasing number of student-athletes from regional high schools and other pipelines.

Community & Program Promotion
  • Build strong relationships with high school coaches, alumni, and community partners.
  • Promote the wrestling program through communication with media outlets, community organizations, and campus stakeholders.
  • Represent Northland Athletics in a positive and professional manner.

Salary Range:
Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Experience coaching baseball at the high school, college, or club level.
  • Valid, unencumbered driver's license.
  • Knowledge of baseball techniques, training methods, and competition strategies.
  • Demonstrated ability to recruit and develop student-athletes.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive and positive team culture.

Preferred Qualification
  • Master's degree.
  • Collegiate-level coaching experience.
  • Knowledge of NJCAA eligibility rules and community college athletics.
  • Demonstrated success in academic support and retention of student-athletes.
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse student population.

Other Requirements
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and travel extensively for recruiting and competitions.
  • Ability to demonstrate baseball techniques and conduct physically active training sessions.
  • Must meet Minnesota State Vehicle Fleet Safety Program requirements, including a Motor Vehicle Records check.
