IT Systems Field Support Technician

Location: Las Vegas, NV

About Bartech


Bartech Systems International develops, manufactures, and supports automated in-room minibar systems for hotels and resorts throughout North America. Our technology combines custom hardware, networking, Windows and Linux servers, SQL databases, and cloud-based software to help hotels automate minibar operations.

We're looking for a hands-on IT professional who enjoys solving technical problems, working directly with customers, and traveling to hotel properties to install, maintain, and support our systems.


Position Summary


The Field Systems Engineer provides on-site and remote technical support for Bartech installations throughout North America. This position is responsible for installing and commissioning systems, diagnosing and repairing hardware, troubleshooting software and networking issues, training customer personnel, and providing advanced Tier 2 technical support.


The ideal candidate is a self-motivated IT professional who can work independently, manage customer projects with minimal supervision, and deliver an exceptional customer experience.


This role is based out of our Las Vegas office and requires frequent travel, including overnight stays. Weekend travel is occasionally required depending on project schedules.


A valid passport is required or must be obtained within three months of hire.


Primary Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and commission Bartech minibar systems at hotel properties throughout North America.
  • Configure and troubleshoot wired and wireless network connectivity for Bartech equipment.
  • Install, configure, and support Windows servers, Microsoft SQL Server, and Bartech applications.
  • Test, configure, and verify the operation of Bartech hardware using internal diagnostic and testing tools.
  • Diagnose, repair, replace, and functionally test printed circuit boards (PCBs) and hardware assemblies to restore minibar operation.
  • Perform on-site maintenance, repairs, and preventive service.
  • Provide Tier 2 technical support to customers and internal staff by phone, email, and remote access.
  • Troubleshoot networking, software, hardware, database, and operating system issues.
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute on-site service visits independently while working directly with customer Engineering, IT, and Operations teams.
  • Provide hands-on technical training to Engineering, IT, and Operations personnel on the installation, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of Bartech hardware and software systems.
  • Deliver both on-site and remote technical support and training to customers.
  • Document installations, service work, and technical findings accurately.
  • Partner with the Development team to diagnose complex technical issues, validate software fixes, and provide customer feedback to improve products and processes.
  • Use PowerShell as part of system administration and troubleshooting activities.
  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships through professional communication and exceptional customer service.
  • Follow company procedures and maintain a high level of customer service during all customer interactions.
  • Safely lift and move minibar units and related equipment weighing up to 50 pounds as needed during installations and service calls.


Required Skills and Experience

  • Minimum two years of professional IT support or systems administration experience.
  • Experience supporting Windows desktop and server operating systems.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Solid understanding of TCP/IP networking, DNS, DHCP, routing, switching, VLANs, and wireless networking.
  • Experience troubleshooting wired and wireless Ethernet networks.
  • Familiarity with PowerShell for system administration and troubleshooting.
  • Experience using remote support tools and standard troubleshooting utilities.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to read and write technical documentation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent relationship-building and customer service skills.
  • Ability to independently plan, prioritize, coordinate, and manage customer projects with minimal supervision.
  • Comfortable presenting technical information and conducting customer training sessions.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.


Preferred Qualifications

Experience with one or more of the following is preferred:

  • Hospitality technology or hotel IT systems
  • Property Management System (PMS) integrations
  • Wireshark or other packet capture and network analysis tools
  • CRM systems (Dynamics 365, Salesforce, or similar)
  • Virtualization technologies such as Hyper-V or VMware
  • Amazon Web Services (AWS)
  • Linux server administration (Ubuntu, Amazon Linux, or similar distributions)
  • Familiarity with cloud networking, VPNs, and secure remote access


Education

Associate degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related technical field is preferred. Equivalent work experience and technical training will also be considered.


Travel Requirements

  • Frequent travel throughout North America.
  • Overnight travel is required.
  • Weekend travel may occasionally be necessary.
  • Valid passport required or must be obtained within three months of hire.
