Job description

TITLE: Beverage Supervisor

SEASON: Austral Summer (Summer 2026-2027)

LOCATION: McMurdo Station, Antarctica

SECTOR/DEPT: Gana-A'Yoo Services Corporation (GSC) Antarctica

REPORT TO: Culinary Manager


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Ensure a constructive and cooperative approach to all aspects of the operation.

Assist client with any safety-related request or requirement.

Perform daily accounting procedures

Build bank bags for each location, balance the safe, provide weekly reporting

Ensure a safe work ethic is instilled in all employees and maintained during the course of the contract.

Ensure that all services for the client are performed with the highest standards of contractual obligations.

Develop, foster, and maintain a cordial and positive relationship with the client and guests.

Available on request by client during normal business hours of client to visit with any representative concerning operational issues.

Estimate beverage costs and requisition or purchase supplies.

Confer with food preparation and other personnel to plan menus and related activities such as dining room, bar, and banquet operations.

Inspect beverage preparation to maintain quality standards and sanitation regulations.

Investigate and resolve beverage quality and service complaints.

Review financial transactions and monitor budget to ensure efficient operation, and to ensure expenditures stay within budget limitations.

Responsible for maintaining a safe workplace program and ensuring that safety is the highest priority on the job site.

Responsible for safety reporting for all employees. This includes soreness, injuries, and near misses.

Conduct weekly safety meetings and provide client with a copy of such meetings.

Monitor safety awareness and safety record.

Monitor "Midrat" meal service.

Make recommendations to the operations manager as to ways of increasing operational efficiency and improving responsiveness.

Advise, train, cross-train, and guide all workers in performance of duties.

Assign and coordinate work of employees to promote efficiency of operations.

Ensure discipline is maintained at all levels.

Effectively manage all operational and procedural responsibilities for the scope of work.

Supervise serving of meals.

Inspect beverage control areas and equipment to ensure sanitary standards are met.

Keeps records such as amount and cost of beverages served and hours worked by employees.

Requisition and inspect supplies, and equipment to maintain stock levels and ensure standards of quality are met.

Recruiting and training of GSC Part Time, On Call Bartenders in methods and procedures.

Communicate regularly and efficiently with Part Time, On Call Bartenders.

Participates in MCI trainings and drill as determined by supervisor.

Oversees operations at the bars including employee schedules, event planning, and staff functions and responsibilities.

Establish a physical presence at the bar and make adjustments, coach and develop to ensure customer service is consistently high.

Set the example for the staff with regard to punctuality, attendance, attitude and hygiene.

Promote and practice relevant health and safety and fire safety standards.

Carry out ordering of supplies and BAJA when necessary for the bars.

Ensure all deliveries to the bars are checked in correctly and that all relevant delivery invoices are correct.

Maintain and/or implement efficient and effective work methods and systems in both bars and store

Provide shift support at the Retail Store when necessary including retail stock, store cleanliness and customer service.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to move around the facility 75% or more of the time. The employee is occasionally required to remain in a stationary position for at least 50% of the time. The employee frequently is required to maneuver self to be able to reach product and/or materials needed for task. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The employee is on occasion required to determine quality of flavor, appearance, and texture of product. The employee must be able to perceive oral and written instructions in the form of text, writing, graphs, charts, and/or video, and other forms of communication. Must have capacity for exposure to long hours, days, and weeks away from home.

Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION: High school education or GED.

CERTIFICATIONS AND/OR LICENSING REQUIREMENTS: Training for Intervention Procedures (T.I.P.S) certified. Current ServSafe Food Handler certificate must be obtained prior to deployment to Antarctica. Valid driver's license required.

EXPERIENCE: Minimum two years management experience working at a beverage establishment, such as a hotel, restaurant or club where alcohol is served is required. Previous experience with Station Services in Antarctica may be accepted in lieu of minimum experience.

OTHER: US citizenship or permanent residency required.
