Global Wealth Management Operations provides brokerage, investment and financial services to hundreds of thousands of individual investors. Our services are tailored to each client's investment objectives, risk tolerance, and financial needs. Products include mutual funds, stocks, bonds, and alternative investments where appropriate, as well as banking, mortgages, insurance and annuities .Morgan Stanley US Tax Operations is a cross-divisional operational utility that supports Retail, Institutional, and Corporate business lines.
Tax Operations is responsible for ensuring compliance with IRS & State Regulations related to US tax withholding, reporting, and filing obligations across Morgan Stanley's Retail and Institutional based clients and legal entities. Tax Operations works closely with senior Business Unit representatives, Operations colleagues and client representatives, providing an in-depth client service role to insure that all tax related inquiries are addressed on a timely basis. Background on the Position US Tax Operations is seeking an experienced individual to support Morgan Stanley's Tax Documentation team. This role will present the candidate with challenging opportunities due to the high regulatory risk coupled with high volumes, tight deadlines and demanding client base. The position requires exceptionally strong organization, process and people management skills. In addition, this role requires excellent trouble shooting, execution and communication (written and verbal) skills.
Primary Responsibilities:
- This individual will be responsible to troubleshoot, research and action all client/stakeholder queries related to documentation, allocation statements, change in circumstance, & US indicia and reporting.
- The candidate should have prior tax experience and be familiar with all aspects of tax operations.
- The candidate will have extensive interactions with internal stakeholders in both the Business Units as well as colleagues outside of Tax Operations (e.g Syndicated Loan Ops, FX Ops, Client - - - Reference Data Ops, Tax Technology, Tax Compliance) and will be expected to troubleshoot with the team(s), propose and ensure implementation of solutions.
- In addition, this individual will be expected to materially participate in all strategic projects by supporting the documentation of Business Requirements Documents and testing.
- The candidate is expected to prepare and present findings related to Key Risk and Key process metrics as well as explore solutions to reduce risk, create capacity and improve client service. Skills required:
- The successful candidate will operate across all business units and functional areas within the firm and possess the following skills:
- Ability to multitask and take ownership of complex issues and meet tight deadlines.
- Ability to quickly identify an issue, coupled with the ability to succinctly articulate and escalate the issue, impact and corrective action to senior management.

- Ability to operate across all functional areas across Business Unit, Corporate Tax, Technology, Compliance, Audit and Risk.
- Ability to document process flows and desktop procedures.
- Highly Organized and Detail Oriented.

- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
- Comprehensive understanding of Microsoft Excel.
- A good understanding of Operations, Technology, & Risk.
- Advanced MS Office skills, including MS Excel, PowerPoint, Word and MS Project.
