Job description

General Description: The focus of this position is to greet, educate, and assist neighbors, visitors, and volunteers through providing legendary customer service. In addition, the Receptionist will assist in all daily facility operations and support the general needs of all programs of the New Braunfels Food Bank.

Essential Functions:

  • Support, demonstrate, and incorporate San Antonio Food Bank Mission Statement, Vision, and diversity goals into each job responsibility.
  • Greet all visitors, volunteers, and neighbors with a friendly welcoming tone and approachable atmosphere.
  • Manage all front desk traffic and guest flow through the NBFB facility, by proactively engaging and ensuring all individuals are assisted with legendary customer service and receive the help they seek.
  • Stay up to date with NBFB activities in and around the area to assist with questions and ensure the safety of all visitors.
  • Answer phone calls and route to the appropriate areas of need/interest.
  • Manage room schedules including set up, tear down, and communication regarding daily activity in facility
  • Receives and send packages/mail and ensure they are documented and delivered to correct party or location
  • Receive monetary donations and document accurately.
  • Schedule all NBU interviews with appropriate program staff.
  • Supervise front desk volunteers, court appointed volunteers, and interns to ensure proper training, supervision, scheduling, and mission engagement.
  • Ensure all clients accessing food assistance are taken through the proper intake procedures to determine eligibility for service in accordance with San Antonio Food Bank, Feeding America, and USDA guidelines
  • Promote the education program at the New Braunfels Food Bank-including Healthy Cooking classes, Physical Activity, Gardening, and/or Financial Literacy (including Eating Healthy under a Budget) and other self-sustainability classes for identified clients.
  • Ensure interested clients are channeled to all applicable and available programming to ensure maximum client impact.
  • Provide outreach awareness to clients making them aware of all programs they are eligible for and would benefit from including Nutrition Education, Benefits Assistance, Workforce Development, Children's Programs, Senior Programs, and Culinary Training if applicable and appropriate.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High School degree or equivalent
  • Superior customer service skills
  • Computer literate
  • Ability to maintain a professional demeanor in a variety of situations
  • Attention to detail, accuracy
  • Ability in meeting strict deadlines, exercise good judgment and discretion
  • Able to effectively manage and monitoring visitors and/or volunteers
  • Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to manage time efficiently and to work independently with minimum supervision
  • Possession of a current Texas driver's license, liability insurance and a clean driving record
  • Access to reliable transportation

Work Environment

This job is performed in an indoor environment and occasionally may require attendance at outdoor events. You may be required to drive to different locations with varying conditional. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
