Medical Laboratory Technologist (MT/MLS) โ€“ Travel Contract
 

Location: W. W. Hastings Hospital โ€“ Cherokee Nation
Department: Laboratory Services
Contract Duration: July 27, 2026
Shift: 4 Days/Week | 10-Hour Shifts (40 Hours/Week)
Employment Type: Contract / Travel
 

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Medical Laboratory Technologist (MT/MLS) to join the Laboratory Services team at W. W. Hastings Hospital. The selected candidate will perform a wide range of laboratory tests and procedures that support accurate diagnosis, treatment, and patient care. This position requires strong technical expertise, analytical skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced clinical environment while maintaining the highest standards of quality and patient safety.
 

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine and complex laboratory testing in accordance with established laboratory procedures.
  • Analyze and interpret laboratory results, ensuring accuracy and reliability before reporting.
  • Operate, calibrate, troubleshoot, and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment.
  • Conduct quality control and quality assurance procedures to meet regulatory standards.
  • Collect, process, and prepare patient specimens for laboratory analysis.
  • Recognize abnormal results and communicate critical values promptly to healthcare providers.
  • Maintain accurate laboratory documentation and patient records.
  • Adhere to infection control, safety, and OSHA/CAP/CLIA regulations.
  • Collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Participate in laboratory performance improvement and quality initiatives.
Required Qualifications
  • Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Medical Laboratory Science or a related laboratory field.
  • Current MT/MLS certification through ASCP, AMT, or equivalent (preferred or required per facility policy).
  • Minimum 1โ€“2 years of recent clinical laboratory experience in an acute care hospital.
  • Experience performing testing in:
    • Hematology
    • Chemistry
    • Blood Bank
    • Microbiology
    • Urinalysis
  • Strong knowledge of laboratory safety, quality assurance, and regulatory standards.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous travel laboratory experience.
  • Experience with Cerner or other Laboratory Information Systems (LIS).
  • Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, or additional shifts if required.
Required Certifications
  • MT/MLS Certification (ASCP, AMT, or equivalent)
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification (if required by the facility)
