Job description

Capital Automotive Group is looking for a detail-oriented, organized Accounting Clerk to handle the daily banking work in our corporate accounting office. (Internally, we call this role our "Automotive Banker.") This is a transactional, deadline-driven clerical role - not a general ledger, analyst, or controller position. If you like a consistent daily rhythm, clean numbers, and checking your own work, you'll do well here. No accounting degree is required.
A Day in This Role:
Most of your day is spent posting and verifying transactions in our dealership accounting system. You'll:
  • Post daily bank transactions and monthly reserve statements
  • Adjust finance commissions as needed
  • Issue chargeback checks to lenders and prepare chargeback reports for management
  • Maintain accounting schedules and complete monthly bank reconciliations
  • Complete recurring month-end reports
  • Partner with our accounting and finance teams to keep everything accurate and consistent
  • Meet firm daily and month-end deadlines
  • Handle confidential financial information with discretion
    • A closer look:
      • You will not be lending money, quoting rates, or working with customers
      • This is not a bank branch, teller, or loan officer position
      • This is not a staff accountant, financial analyst, or CPA-track role

What We're Looking For:
  • Comfort working with numbers and a genuine eye for accuracy - small errors matter here
  • Solid Microsoft Excel skills, including sorting, filtering, and basic formulas
  • Strong organization and the ability to maintain a consistent daily routine without reminders
  • Comfort learning and working in accounting software on a daily basis; CDK experience is a real plus
  • Clear, professional communication with internal teams
  • Dealership accounting office, bookkeeping, A/P, A/R, or high-volume data entry experience is helpful - but we will train the right person
  • Ability to meet daily and month-end deadlines and work independently
  • Ability to handle confidential financial information with professionalism and discretion
  • Must be able to successfully complete a pre-employment background screening

What We Offer:
  • Competitive Pay
  • Health Insurance
  • Paid Time Off (PTO)
  • 401(k)
  • Opportunities for professional growth and development
  • The opportunity to be part of a growing, people-focused organization
