Job Summary
The Student Assistant will support the Dining Commons as a Student Bakery Assistant on the Statesboro Campus beginning Fall 2026. The Student Bakery Assistant supports the bakery team in preparing, packaging, and presenting baked goods while ensuring a clean and organized workspace. This role involves assisting with basic food preparation, maintaining sanitation standards, and contributing to a positive customer experience.
Student employees cannot work more than 1300 hours in a 12-consecutive month period.
Responsibilities
  • Assists bakers with measuring, mixing, and preparing ingredients
  • Helps portion, shape, and tray baked goods for baking or display
  • Packages and labels bakery items for sale or distribution
  • Maintains a clean work environment by wiping down equipment and surfaces
  • Restocks baking supplies and monitors inventory levels
  • Ensures all products meet presentation and quality standards
  • Assists with dishwashing and cleaning bakery tools and equipment
  • Follows all university food safety and sanitation procedures
  • Maintains a friendly, efficient attitude in a fast-paced setting

Shift Specifics
  • Up to 25 hours per week
  • Flexible with schedule of availability
  • Shifts available Sunday - Saturday:
    • 8 AM - 1 PM
    • 10 AM - 3 PM
    • 12 PM - 5 PM
    • 5 PM - 10 PM

Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
  • Must be enrolled in six or more undergraduate credit hours or three or more graduate credit hours at Georgia Southern University.
