Job Summary:
Gurney's Montauk Resort & Seawater Spa is seeking a skilled and passionate Pastry Cook to join our culinary team. The Pastry Cook will be responsible for preparing and baking high-quality pastries, desserts, and baked goods, ensuring consistency and excellence in presentation and taste. This role requires attention to detail, creativity and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and bake a variety of pastries, desserts, breads, and other baked good according to established recipes and standards.
  • Assist in the creation and execution of new pastry menu items.
  • Ensure consistency in quality, taste, and presentation of all pastry items.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the pastry station, adhering to food safety and sanitation guidelines.
  • Properly store ingredients and finished products to ensure freshness.
  • Collaborate with the Pastry Chef and culinary team to meet production demands.
  • Monitor inventory levels and communicate any supply needs to management.
  • Operate and maintain pastry kitchen equipment safely and effectively.
  • Assist with special events, banquets, and high-volume service as needed.

Qualifications:
  • Previous experience as a Pastry Cook or Baker in a high-volume restaurant, hotel or bakery setting.
  • Strong knowledge of baking techniques, pastry production, and dessert plating.
  • Ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately while demonstrating creativity .
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays as required.
  • ServSafe or equivalent food safety certification.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time in a kitchen environment.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform repetitive motions such as whisking and kneading.

Pay Range and Compensation Package:
