Description

The Safety Coordinator is responsible for safety reporting, safety assessments, scheduling and issuing CPR/First Aid classes, coordinating safety trainings, addressing safety risks, maintaining surveillance camera and badge access systems, and upholding and improving the organization-wide safety program.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES:

Safety Reporting & Assessments

  • Responsible for conducting safety reporting; compile data and produce accurate reports by deadline
  • Coordinate and support the annual safety assessment process, including scheduling site assessments, documenting findings, and tracking corrective actions
  • Maintain the incident report log; follow up on incident documentation and track trends for review
  • Report incidents and complete documentation within required timelines

CPR & First Aid Classes

  • Schedule and issue CPR and First Aid classes across the organization
  • Track staff CPR/First Aid certification expirations and schedule renewals before deadlines
  • Maintain accurate training and certification records

Safety Trainings

  • Coordinate and deliver safety trainings to address identified risks
  • Schedule and document fire, emergency, and lockdown drills at club locations
  • Support training on safety equipment such as surveillance cameras

Risk Management

  • Identify and address safety risks; escalate significant risks to the Director of Business Operations
  • Support the development of mitigating policies, procedures, and action plans to address risks

Camera & Badge Access Maintenance

  • Maintain surveillance camera systems, including routine function checks, troubleshooting, and coordinating repairs
  • Maintain badge access systems, including issuing, updating, and deactivating badge access
  • Inventory and restock first aid kits, AEDs, and safety equipment

Safety Program

  • Uphold and improve the organization-wide safety program
  • Support compliance with safety policies, processes, and procedures

Facility & Child Safety

  • Accountable for adherence to all organizational health and safety policies and implementation of all safety practices and procedures at assigned work location(s)
  • Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect members, staff, equipment, materials, and facilities. Abide by facility maintenance protocols and procedures to ensure compliance
  • Accountable for reporting incidents and completing documentation within required timeline
  • Maintain discipline, de-escalate conflict between members and/or others
  • Obtain and renew CPR and First Aid certification by deadline

  • Be a positive role model
  • Maintain emotional control and make good decisions under pressure
  • Represent the Boys & Girls Club in a positive manner

Attendance

  • Regular attendance is required; arrive on time; punctuality is required

NONESSENTIAL DUTIES

Requirements

Education and Work Experience Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED and minimum 2 years related experience

Minimum Qualifications Requirements:

  •  Ability to work regular program hours with some evenings, nights and weekends
  •  Effective organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of safety program best practices
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and produce timely reports
  • Must be able to obtain CPR and First Aid certification
  • Must be able to pass any and all required background screens and drug screens at any time
  •  Must have satisfactory driving record, valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and liability insurance for operation of a motor vehicle relevant to carrying out duties


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Currently certified in CPR/First Aid
  •  Experience with surveillance camera and/or badge access systems
  •  Experience or knowledge of Boys & Girls Club movement
  • Bilingual

purposes.

Work environment: This job is performed in office environment, at Boys & Girls Club facilities similar to youth recreational facility or community center, school setting and/or public housing setting. Time is also spent in the community. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud and at times moderate or very loud. Work sites are located in low income areas, challenging neighborhoods, and growth neighborhoods. Position may require employees to work with challenging youth and family members; speak with or assist upset parents/guardians; speak with external partners, school staff and community members; may be exposed to emotional outbursts from youth or their family members; and at times work in inclement weather. Occasionally supervise youth/members. May be exposed to infectious disease, must follow safety protocols. Position requires regular

program hours. Position requires evenings, nights and weekends as needed to respond to site and organization needs and requirements, including but not limited to meetings, phone calls, texts and emails as needed. Position is required to carry and utilize a mobile device. Seldom travel outside of the Dallas-Fort Worth metro area.
