Overview

Job Title: Azure MDM Business Analyst
Location: Hybrid - King of Prussia, PA (4 days onsite/1 day remote)

Job Type: Independent Contract (Contractor / Non-Employee)
Start Date: ASAP

Pay Rate: $65-70/hr 1099 / C2C

Contract Length: 12+ Months

Certifications: Minimum 3 Azure certifications (Azure Fundamentals, Azure Administrator Associate, and either Azure Data Fundamentals or Azure Security Associate)

The Azure Business Analyst will act as a bridge between product stakeholders and technical cloud teams, ensuring Azure-based solutions meet organizational goals within the hazardous waste processing industry. This role requires deep expertise in the Azure ecosystem, strong analytical skills, and the ability to document and capture business requirements that align with Azure architectural capabilities and data structures. Should be familiar with manufacturing, processing hazardous waste industries terminologies.


Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

Requirements Gathering & Analysis:

  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand complex environmental waste processes, compliance scope, and operational pain points.
  • Document functional requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria for cloud-native applications and data pipelines.
  • Align requirements by working closely with the Azure solution architecture team.
  • Conduct business gap analysis and Fit-Gap analysis between legacy systems and Azure cloud target states.
  • Ability trun Azure Monitor logs, Power BI reports, and dashboards tperform operational data analysis.
  • Own requirements end-to-end throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Work closely with cloud engineers and developers tshare requirements and provide clarity on scope.
  • Validate proposed cloud solutions against business needs and Azure Well-Architected Framework best practices.
  • Conduct demos and smoke testing of delivered Azure services and integrated features.

Process Optimization:

  • Identify opportunities for automation (via Logic Apps or Azure Functions) and process improvements within the Azure environment.
  • Map current-state vs. to-be business processes to drive cloud efficiency.

Testing & Quality Assurance:

  • Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT), triage defects, perform smoke tests, and validate bug fixes to ensure successful deployment.

Stakeholder Communication:

  • Act as the primary liaison between business units and technical cloud teams, ensuring clear communication and strategic alignment.

Training & Documentation:

  • Prepare technical user guides and conduct training sessions for end-users on new Azure tools and interfaces.

Qualifications

Required Skills & Qualifications

Experience:

  • 10+ years in IT with at least 8 years specifically as an Azure-focused Business Analyst.
  • Proven experience in complex Azure implementations involving data integration and cloud migration.

Certifications:

  • Minimum of three Azure certifications: AZ-900 (Fundamentals) and AZ-104 (Administrator) are mandatory.

Technical Knowledge:

  • Strong understanding of Azure data models (SQL, Cosmos DB), automation tools (Logic Apps), and cloud reporting.
  • Familiarity with integration tools (Azure Data Factory) and data migration strategies (on-prem tcloud).
  • Ability tquery data using SQL.
  • Ability textract data from Azure SQL/Storage using tools like Azure Storage Explorer or Azure Data Studio.
  • Expert-level proficiency in Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP) for data mapping and validation.

Analytical & Communication Skills:

  • Excellent problem-solving, documentation, and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies and Azure DevOps (Boards/Repos).
  • Knowledge of Azure SQL Database administration and cloud governance.
  • Exposure tData Governance, MDM practices, and environmental regulatory reporting (EPA/RCRA).

Mandatory:

  • Four-year undergraduate degree in Computer Science or Engineering.
