Job description

Engineering Technician - V (Support Equipment)

The incumbent shall provide Fleet shore activities, CVN, and L class ships technical advice, assistance and on the job training (OJT) to Navy, Marine Corps military and civilian personnel on the acceptance, installation, operation, and/or maintenance of Support Equipment (SE), to include but not limited to: Ground Support Equipment (GSE). This acquisition is for Contract Field Services type of Engineering Technical Services (ETS) in support of SE.

Duties and Responsibilities

Provide Contract Engineering Technical Services (CETS) for the SE OJT training and assistance on the aviation programs, systems and equipment.

Provide on-site academic instruction and on-equipment proficiency training to Navy and Marine Corps personnel, Navy Engineering and Technical Services (NETS) Specialists, and other Government employees, on the operation/maintenance of SE on the aviation programs, systems and equipment.

Assist the NATEC Technical Coordinator (TC) or the NATEC Product support Lead (PSL) in developing training plans and SE training programs, which will ensure Navy and Marine Corps personnel are trained to operate/maintain SE.

Provide advice on the identification of, and instruction on the use of special tools, handling equipment, test equipment associated with and related to SE.

Provide SE Equipment information available on Fleet Support Team approved modifications to operations and maintenance personnel.

Provide on-site technical support to operating units, commands, and shore-based industrial activities to analyze and identify SE discrepancies in maintenance procedures contained in the most current versions of technical manuals (TMs) for weapon systems/equipment.

Compare performance of actual weapon systems/equipment and SE procedures against the SE procedures documented in these weapon systems/equipment TMs.

Evaluate and review Government Furnished Information (GFI) technical source data for SE procedures/equipment. This includes engineering drawings, engineering change proposals (ECPs), technical data packages (TDPs), maintenance plans, logistics support plans, Interim Manual Change Releases (IMCRs), and Interim Rapid Action Changes (IRACs) for technical accuracy and adequacy for incorporation into the applicable weapon systems/equipment operation and maintenance TMs.

Perform evaluation of maintenance occurrences to the criteria identified in the weapon systems/equipment TMs to ensure conformance with weapon systems and SE objectives; determine the cause of weapon systems/equipment and other related problems and recommend corrective actions to the Government.

Perform on-site analysis of weapon systems/equipment SE deficiencies/failures, in accordance with the requirements of appropriate TMs and provide advice on the development of resolutions.
