Job description

Total Aviation Staffing is hiring a Fuel Strategy Manager for our client, a leading private aviation and travel services provider.

This is a strong opportunity for an analytical and operationally minded aviation professional who understands fuel purchasing, vendor relationships, FBO networks, pricing strategy, and cost control. In this role, you will help build and manage the company’s fuel purchasing strategy, reduce fuel-related costs, negotiate with vendors, and support smarter real-time fuel decisions across the operation.

Fuel is one of the largest variable expenses in aviation. Translation: this role matters. If you enjoy working at the intersection of operations, finance, vendor management, and aviation strategy, this is a high-impact opportunity to directly influence profitability and operational efficiency.

What You’ll Do

As the Fuel Strategy Manager, you will be responsible for analyzing fuel spend, negotiating vendor agreements, improving purchasing decisions, and helping standardize fuel strategy across the organization.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Monitor, analyze, and optimize company-wide aviation fuel spend.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities, pricing anomalies, and vendor performance issues.
  • Develop competitive fuel pricing benchmarks across key markets and routes.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with FBOs, fuel providers, and aviation vendors nationwide.
  • Negotiate favorable fuel pricing, vendor agreements, and high-volume route pricing.
  • Coordinate with scheduling, dispatch, operations, and finance teams to capture strategic fuel pricing opportunities.
  • Audit fuel transactions to identify billing errors, recover overcharges, and ensure pricing aligns with negotiated terms.
  • Develop fuel purchasing guidelines that support proactive decision-making by operational teams.
  • Maintain dashboards and reporting tools to track key fuel metrics, including cost per gallon, vendor performance, savings opportunities, and purchasing compliance.
  • Create, improve, and enforce company-wide fuel purchasing policies.
  • Support cross-functional communication between operations, finance, scheduling, and vendor partners.
  • Stay informed on fuel market trends, FBO pricing structures, and aviation fuel purchasing best practices.

What We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate is highly analytical, organized, and comfortable working in a fast-moving aviation environment. You should be able to turn pricing data into practical decisions, negotiate confidently with vendors, and communicate clearly with operational teams.

This role is a great fit for someone with experience in aviation operations, fuel management, vendor sourcing, procurement, dispatch, trip support, or FBO/vendor relations.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience in aviation operations, fuel management, vendor sourcing, procurement, or a related field preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret pricing data, market trends, and purchasing activity.
  • Experience identifying cost-saving opportunities and operational inefficiencies.
  • Strong negotiation, relationship management, and vendor management skills.
  • Ability to conduct audits, review transactions, and identify billing or pricing discrepancies.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, real-time operational environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Comfortable working cross-functionally with operations, finance, scheduling, and vendor partners.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with FBO networks and aviation fuel pricing structures.
  • Experience with private aviation, business aviation, charter operations, aircraft management, or flight operations.
  • Knowledge of trip planning, dispatch coordination, aircraft routing, or fuel release processes.
  • Experience negotiating with FBOs, fuel vendors, or aviation service providers.
  • Experience building dashboards, reports, KPIs, or cost-tracking tools.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel or data reporting experience.
  • Background in aviation procurement, supplier management, or operational cost control.

Why This Role Stands Out

This is a high-impact role where your work can directly reduce operating costs and improve company performance. You will have the opportunity to build structure around fuel purchasing, improve vendor relationships, and help the business make smarter fuel decisions every day.

This position offers:

  • Competitive salary of $65,000 – $75,000
  • Full benefits package
  • Opportunity to directly impact profitability
  • Exposure to private aviation operations, finance, and vendor strategy
  • Meaningful work tied to one of the largest variable costs in aviation
  • Career growth within a dynamic aviation services environment

Apply Today

If you have experience in aviation fuel management, vendor sourcing, FBO negotiations, aircraft operations, procurement, dispatch, trip support, or aviation cost optimization, we encourage you to apply today.
