Comparison Summary

The AV Manager oversees audiovisual operations, manages teams, and plans large-scale AV projects, requiring leadership skills and often a higher level of experience. The AV Technician focuses on installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting AV equipment, typically with technical certifications. While both roles work in similar environments like corporate, events, and entertainment industries, the AV Manager has broader responsibilities including strategic planning. Understanding these differences helps employers and job seekers align expectations and career paths effectively.

What does an AV manager do?

An AV (Audio Visual) Manager oversees the planning, setup, and operation of audio and visual equipment for events, meetings, and presentations. They manage a team of AV technicians, coordinate with clients to understand their technical requirements, and ensure that all equipment functions smoothly during events. AV Managers are also responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting AV equipment, managing inventory, and keeping up with the latest technology trends in the industry.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an AV manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as an AV Manager, you need expertise in audiovisual technology, event coordination, and project management, often supported by a relevant degree or AVIXA CTS certification. Familiarity with AV control systems (like Crestron or Extron), video conferencing platforms, and troubleshooting hardware/software issues is crucial. Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills help in managing teams and collaborating with clients. These skills ensure seamless AV operations, high-quality presentations, and successful event outcomes.

Job description

Meet ACQ:
At Acquisition.com, we're a team of entrepreneurs on a mission to make real business education available to everyone. There are 34 million small and medium businesses in the United States. They're the backbone of the economy, but many will never reach their full potential because the education available to them is outdated, impractical, and built for classrooms instead of companies.
We're fixing that by giving founders and business owners the tools, knowledge, and support they need to grow. The proof is in our results:
  • Built an Advisory Practice that's already served more than 3,500 clients in its first year
  • Broke the world record for non-fiction book sales in 24 hours with $100M Money Models
  • Scaled to nine figures in 18 months without any outside capital

We believe in high standards, hard work, and helping others win. If that resonates, you'll feel at home here.
Role:
At Acquisition.com, we believe every workshop should deliver an exceptional guest experience, and exceptional AV production is a critical part of making that happen.
We're seeking an experienced AV Production Manager to own the technical execution of our live workshops. In this role, you'll partner closely with the Workshop Operating Partner and Event Managers to prepare, execute, and continuously improve AV production across every event.
From equipment setup and speaker rehearsals to live production and troubleshooting, you'll ensure every technical detail is executed with precision. Your work behind the scenes allows speakers to perform confidently, Event Managers to stay focused on the guest experience, and workshops to run seamlessly from start to finish.
As our events continue to scale, we're looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, takes ownership, solves problems under pressure, and is committed to delivering a consistently high standard of production. Success in this role requires strong technical expertise, attention to detail, preparation, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
Responsibilities:
  • Own the AV production of all Acquisition.com workshops from setup through teardown.
  • Prepare, configure, test, and operate all AV production equipment, including presentation computers, projectors, LED walls, displays, audio systems, lighting, microphones, speakers, presentation remotes, timers, and music playback.
  • Conduct technical rehearsals with speakers to ensure presentations, production cues, and stage transitions are fully prepared before each workshop.
  • Load, organize, verify, and manage presentation decks, including implementing last-minute revisions when necessary.
  • Execute all AV production cues throughout each workshop while maintaining alignment with the Run of Show.
  • Monitor and adjust audio, video, lighting, and presentation playback throughout live workshops.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues quickly and confidently while minimizing disruption to speakers and guests.
  • Prepare backup equipment and contingency plans to ensure workshops continue seamlessly if technical issues arise.
  • Maintain all AV production equipment, ensuring it is clean, organized, tested, inventoried, and workshop-ready at all times.
  • Coordinate preventative maintenance, repairs, and equipment replacements as needed.
  • Develop and maintain AV production SOPs, setup guides, checklists, and technical documentation to support consistent execution across every workshop.
  • Evaluate each workshop and identify opportunities to improve AV production, equipment, and technical workflows.
  • Partner closely with the Workshop Operating Partner and Event Managers before, during, and after each workshop to ensure AV production supports the overall event experience.
  • Coordinate with external vendors when additional AV support or equipment is required.
  • Stay current on industry best practices, equipment, and technology to continuously improve the quality and consistency of our workshops.
  • Contribute to a culture of ownership, preparation, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.

Results:
  • Every workshop is fully prepared and technically ready before guests arrive.
  • AV production is executed consistently and professionally across every workshop.
  • Workshops begin on time with all AV systems tested and operational.
  • Speakers feel confident and supported throughout rehearsals and live presentations.
  • Event Managers remain focused on guests, speakers, and event execution while AV production is independently managed.
  • Technical issues are resolved quickly with minimal disruption to the guest experience.
  • Production equipment remains organized, maintained, and workshop-ready.
  • Production documentation and checklists support consistent execution across every workshop.
  • AV production continuously improves through proactive maintenance, thoughtful documentation, and process refinement.

Requirements:
  • Experience in supporting AV production for live events, conferences, corporate meetings, or similar productions.
  • Experience in operating professional audio, video, lighting, and presentation systems in a live event environment.
  • Strong knowledge of AV production workflows, presentation playback, signal flow, and live troubleshooting.
  • Experience supporting speakers through technical rehearsals and live presentations.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities while maintaining a high standard of execution.
  • Experience in creating or maintaining production SOPs, technical documentation, or operational checklists preferred.
  • Ability to lift and move production equipment as needed.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and occasional travel based on workshop schedules.
  • A proactive mindset with a strong sense of ownership and commitment to continuous improvement.

Location:
  • Las Vegas, Nevada (Onsite)

Schedule:
  • This is a full-time role with standard business hours of 8:00 AM-6:00 PM PT. Workshop days require flexibility, as schedules can shift based on event needs. We're looking for someone who is comfortable adapting when the business requires it.

Compensation:
  • $80,000 - $110,000 annual salary
Benefits:
We offer a comprehensive, evolving benefits package designed to support your health, family, and wellbeing. Some key offerings:

    • $1,950 annual Employer HSA contribution
    • FSA options including dependent care
    • Employee assistance program and mental health resources
  • Employer match program for 401(k), eligible for both Traditional and Roth accounts
  • $1,200 annual wellness reimbursement through JOON that supports health, family care, pet care, fitness, and more!
  • For local or visiting team members, enjoy access to a state of the art gym at our HQ in Las Vegas

* Benefits eligibility applies only to full-time exempt roles.
