Automotive Service Advisor

Expected Earnings: $60,000–$100,000 per year
Carmedix — Durham, NC

Carmedix is looking for an experienced, driven Automotive Service Advisor who knows how to take care of customers, communicate value, and help a busy repair shop operate at a high level.

This is not an order-taking position.

We are looking for someone who can build trust, confidently present repairs, follow through with customers, and take ownership of the entire customer experience. The right person will be organized, competitive, coachable, and motivated by both excellent service and strong results.

What You’ll Do
  • Greet customers and make them feel confident leaving their vehicle with us
  • Listen carefully, ask the right questions, and document customer concerns accurately
  • Work closely with technicians to understand inspection results and repair recommendations
  • Clearly explain repairs using photos, videos, and straightforward language
  • Present safety and maintenance recommendations without pressure or manipulation
  • Build accurate estimates and obtain repair authorizations
  • Maintain consistent communication throughout the repair process
  • Follow up on declined work and missed opportunities
  • Keep repair orders organized and moving through the shop
  • Help resolve customer concerns professionally and calmly
  • Take ownership of sales, gross profit, customer satisfaction, and shop performance
What We’re Looking For
  • Previous automotive service advisor experience is strongly preferred
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Comfortable discussing repair costs and asking for the sale
  • Able to manage multiple customers and repair orders at once
  • Organized, dependable, and detail-oriented
  • Confident without being aggressive
  • Competitive, accountable, and motivated by measurable goals
  • Willing to receive coaching and improve
  • Able to work effectively with technicians, management, and other advisors
  • Familiarity with digital vehicle inspections and shop management software is a plus
Our Approach

At Carmedix, we believe the best advisors do more than sell repairs.

They help customers make informed decisions.

We lead with safety, communicate honestly, and use inspections, photos, and videos to show customers what is happening with their vehicles. We do not believe in scare tactics, unnecessary repairs, or hiding behind technical language.

We also believe accountability matters.

We track performance, review missed opportunities, follow up with customers, and coach our team to improve. If you want a position where expectations are unclear and results do not matter, this will not be the right fit.

If you want to work in a high-performing shop where your effort, communication skills, and results can directly increase your income, we should talk.

Compensation

Expected annual earnings: $60,000–$100,000

Compensation is performance-based and designed to reward advisors who provide excellent customer service, communicate effectively, and help the shop produce strong results.

Your earning potential will depend on your experience, performance, and ability to build trust with customers.

Why Carmedix?
  • Established, high-volume independent repair shop
  • Strong local reputation with more than 1,500 customer reviews
  • Modern digital inspection and customer communication process
  • Clear performance expectations
  • Coaching, training, and ongoing feedback
  • Opportunity to earn more by producing better results
  • Leadership that understands automotive repair and service advising
  • Monday–Friday work schedule
  • A shop that values honesty, accountability, urgency, and continuous improvement
This Position May Be a Great Fit If You:
  • Naturally take ownership instead of making excuses
  • Enjoy helping customers understand their vehicles
  • Like working in a fast-paced environment
  • Want your income to reflect your performance
  • Can handle direct feedback without becoming defensive
  • Care about both the customer and the financial health of the business
  • Want to become one of the best service advisors in the industry
This Position Is Probably Not a Fit If You:
  • Avoid discussing money with customers
  • Struggle to follow up or stay organized
  • Blame technicians, customers, or management when results are low
  • Believe advising means simply giving customers a price
  • Dislike goals, scorecards, coaching, or accountability
  • Use pressure, fear, or dishonesty to sell work

Carmedix is an equal opportunity employer.
