Automotive Service Dispatcher
Join the Suntrup Automotive Group Team
Suntrup Automotive Group is seeking an experienced, organized, and results-driven Automotive Service Dispatcher to join our high-volume Service Department. This position plays a critical role in maintaining shop efficiency, maximizing technician productivity, and ensuring customers receive timely, high-quality service.
The ideal candidate understands dealership operations, can effectively balance technician workloads, and thrives in a fast-paced environment where attention to detail and strong communication skills are essential.
Position Summary
The Automotive Service Dispatcher is responsible for assigning repair orders to technicians based on skill level, workload, and efficiency while maintaining a productive workflow throughout the service department. This individual works closely with service advisors, technicians, parts personnel, and management to ensure repairs are completed accurately, efficiently, and on schedule.
Key Responsibilities
  • Dispatch repair orders to technicians in a fair and efficient manner according to dealership policies and procedures.
  • Assign work based on technician skill level, certifications, experience, and current workload.
  • Monitor shop productivity and workflow throughout the day to maximize efficiency and technician utilization.
  • Ensure warranty repairs are assigned and completed in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and dealership policies.
  • Review completed repair orders and technician documentation for accuracy and completeness.
  • Coordinate parts availability and repair scheduling with the Parts Department.
  • Maintain accurate records and accountability for all repair orders.
  • Assist in prioritizing customer waiters, comebacks, warranty repairs, and internal work.
  • Communicate effectively with service advisors, technicians, and management regarding workflow and repair status.
  • Help identify and resolve bottlenecks that impact shop productivity.
  • Support service department operations as needed to ensure exceptional customer satisfaction.
  • Maintain compliance with all federal, state, local, OSHA, and environmental regulations.
  • Uphold Suntrup Automotive Group's standards for professionalism, integrity, and customer service.
  • Consistently achieve production and efficiency objectives established by management.
Qualifications
  • Previous Automotive Service Dispatcher experience preferred.
  • Automotive Technician experience strongly considered.
  • Minimum of 2 years of automotive dealership service experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of dealership service operations, repair order flow, and technician productivity.
  • Knowledge of warranty procedures and manufacturer requirements.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to multitask and perform effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
