Automation Engineering Manager

About the Role:

As a Controls Engineer Manager, you will lead a team of engineers and technicians to design, develop, and implement innovative solutions for packaging machinery and automation. You will oversee the entire engineering lifecycle, from concept to testing, installation, and maintenance, ensuring the quality, performance, and reliability of our products.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and mentor a team of programming, software engineers, electrical engineers, and electrical customer service technicians.
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute engineering projects to meet specifications, budget, and timeline.
  • Oversee the installation, startup, and commissioning of equipment.
  • Design, develop, and test electrical systems, components, and software for packaging machinery and automation.
  • Ensure the safety and functionality of products.
  • Prepare and review engineering documentation, such as schematics, diagrams, manuals, and reports.
  • Create and implement electrical component control programs for PLC, HMI, motion, and message display.
  • Collaborate with other departments to fulfill electrical design requirements.
  • Research and evaluate new technologies and methods to improve engineering processes.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in electrical engineering, programming, or software engineering, preferably in the packaging machinery or automation industry.
  • Proven leadership and management skills.
  • Strong knowledge in electrical systems, components, and software (PLCs, HMI, servo drives, sensors, motors, controllers).
  • Proficient in programming languages (C, C++, Java, Python).
  • Experience with engineering tools and software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, MATLAB).
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Attention to detail, quality, and safety.
  • Proficiency in engineering software (CAD, CAM, PLCs).
General Skills:
  • Ability to understand and execute processes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications (SharePoint, Excel, Teams).
  • Self-motivated and flexible attitude.
  • Strong computer and mathematical skills.
