Location: Englewood, CO

Salary: $105-115k base plus bonus

Position Overview
We are seeking a Building Automation Controls Project Manager to lead the delivery of controls and energy projects from proposal through commissioning and closeout. This role combines technical expertise in building automation and energy services with strong project management skills to ensure projects meet scope, schedule, budget, and quality targets while delivering measurable energy and operational improvements for clients.
Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the full project lifecycle for building automation and energy services projects, including scoping, planning, execution, commissioning, and closeout.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and resource plans; monitor progress and implement corrective actions to mitigate cost and schedule risks.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary teams of controls engineers, integrators, electricians, subcontractors, and vendors to ensure successful installation and integration of automation control systems.
  • Oversee design reviews, technical submittals, and system architecture decisions to ensure compatibility with client standards and best practices (BACnet, Niagara, Tridium, etc.).
  • Lead commissioning, functional testing, and startup activities; validate system performance against project acceptance criteria and energy savings targets.
  • Prepare, review, and manage change orders, contracts, and procurement activities in coordination with commercial and procurement teams.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation, progress reports, technical drawings, O&M manuals, and as-built records for client handover.
  • Serve as primary client contact for project status, technical issues, and change management; build and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Ensure compliance with safety policies, codes, regulations, and quality standards on all project sites.
  • Support business development by providing technical input for proposals, estimates, and project scoping; identify opportunities for energy services and controls upgrades.
  • Implement continuous improvement practices, lessons learned, and best practices to improve project delivery, cost accounting, and controls performance.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in Building Automation systems, preferably with Niagara, Distech, or Johnson Controls. 
  • 2+ years of project management experience delivering building automation, control systems, or energy services projects; experience supervising field teams and subcontractors.
  • Proven experience with cost accounting and project financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, and change order control.
  • Strong project scheduling skills; proficient with scheduling tools such as Microsoft Project or Primavera.
  • Experience with commissioning, start-up procedures, and performance verification for energy and controls systems.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts for nontechnical clients.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects.
