Controls Engineer
Compensation: $45-$58/hour DOE
Location: Fort Collins, CO --MUST RESIDE in Northern Colorado
Schedule: Flexible | Approximately 20-40 Hours Per Week Based on Project Load
Position Type: Long-term Contract (W2) with potential for permanent placement. Must be eligible to work in US without sponsorship.

How you'll spend your time as a Controls Engineer:
- Create, update, and maintain electrical schematics and wiring documentation using AutoCAD Electrical.
- Support control system upgrades and retrofit projects for existing filament winding equipment.
- Troubleshoot motors, drives, sensors, and machine control systems.
- Modify and improve controls documentation to support customer installations and future serviceability.
- Assist with component selection and purchasing activities.
- Collaborate with customers, vendors, and internal resources to support successful project execution.
- Participate in machine testing, startup, commissioning, and troubleshooting activities based on your experience and interests.
- Support the continued development and expansion of custom manufacturing equipment solutions.
Skills & experience we'd like you to have as a Controls Engineer:
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
- Experience designing, troubleshooting, or supporting industrial machine control systems.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and AutoCAD Electrical.
- Ability to read and create electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and controls documentation.
- Experience working with industrial machinery, custom equipment, or manufacturing systems.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with customers and project stakeholders.
- Comfortable working in a flexible, project-driven environment where priorities may shift as new opportunities arise.
Preferred Qualifications:
- PLC programming and troubleshooting experience.
- Motion control and servo systems experience.
- Machine commissioning, startup, or field service experience.
- Experience with custom machinery, automation equipment, or retrofit projects.
- Aerospace, composites, or advanced manufacturing experience.
- Consulting, contract, or project-based engineering experience.
- Engineering students, early-career engineers, experienced controls engineers, and semi-retired professionals with relevant skills are encouraged to apply.
