Job description

Position Overview


RGD Project Management, Inc. is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Automation & Control Engineer to design, develop, implement, and maintain automation and control systems for industrial, commercial, and infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will play a key role in improving operational efficiency, system reliability, and process performance through innovative automation solutions.


Key Responsibilities
  • Design, program, configure, and commission automation and control systems, including PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, DCS, and related instrumentation.
  • Develop control logic, system architecture, and functional design specifications based on project requirements.
  • Perform system integration, testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning activities.
  • Prepare engineering documents such as control narratives, P&IDs, I/O lists, wiring diagrams, and technical reports.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams, contractors, vendors, and clients to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Conduct site inspections, field surveys, and system assessments to identify operational improvements.
  • Support preventive maintenance programs and provide technical assistance for automation-related issues.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable industry standards, safety regulations, and company quality procedures.
  • Participate in project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and risk assessment activities.
  • Provide technical training and support to operations and maintenance personnel when required.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Instrumentation & Control Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related field.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (preferred but not required).
  • Minimum of 3โ€“5 years of experience in automation, process control, or industrial control systems.
  • Proficiency in PLC programming platforms such as Siemens, Allen-Bradley/Rockwell, Schneider, Mitsubishi, or equivalent systems.
  • Experience with SCADA, HMI, industrial networking, and communication protocols (Modbus, Profibus, Ethernet/IP, OPC, etc.).
  • Knowledge of instrumentation, process control principles, and industrial automation standards.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical, instrumentation, and control system drawings.
  • Excellent communication and project coordination abilities.
  • Willingness to travel to project sites as required.
Preferred Skills
  • Experience in industrial plants, manufacturing facilities, utilities, water treatment, energy, or infrastructure projects.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity practices for industrial control systems.
  • Familiarity with Industry 4.0, IIoT, data analytics, and smart automation technologies.
  • Experience in project management and commissioning activities.
