Job description

Company Description
Circle Logistics is a third-party logistics (3PL) firm focused on delivering three core promises to our customers:
  • No Fail Service
  • Personalized Communication
  • Innovative Solutions

We leverage technology, industry experience, and employee ingenuity to provide industry-leading transportation solutions that keep America moving.
Job Description
We are seeking a Senior Accountant to lead complex close activities, bring structure to high-volume multi-entity data, and deliver accurate, timely, and fully transparent financial statements. This is a hands-on role offering meaningful ownership and direct visibility to finance leadership-ideal for someone committed to advancing into a lead or supervisory position.
What You'll Do
Month-End and Year-End Close
  • Own and execute significant portions of the close cycle: prepare, review, and validate journal entries, accruals, prepaids, and recurring/reversing entries, including reverse-and-re-accrue payroll methodologies.
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts and investigate variances against prior periods, budgets, and established expectations.
  • Maintain the general ledger and drive adherence to the close calendar to ensure timely completion.

Multi-Entity Accounting and Consolidation
  • Record, reconcile, and eliminate intercompany transactions across group entities with precision.
  • Support consolidation of results across U.S. and international subsidiaries, managing foreign-entity and multi-currency considerations.
  • Maintain clean, accurate entity-level and consolidated trial balances.

Freight and 3PL-Specific Accounting
  • Manage high-volume carrier settlements, freight revenue and cost recognition, and load-level margin analysis.
  • Reconcile operational data from the TMS (TransportPro; exposure to Cargotel and Tai advantageous) into the accounting system.
  • Execute AR/AP, factoring, and carrier-payment reconciliations at freight-brokerage transaction volumes.

Reporting, Controls, and Audit
  • Prepare comprehensive financial statements and supporting schedules for management review.
  • Develop and maintain clear, audit-ready workpapers and reconciliations.
  • Serve as the primary contact for external auditors; prepare requested documentation and respond to inquiries promptly.
  • Document processes and strengthen internal controls to support organizational growth.

Analysis and Process Improvement
  • Transform complex, high-volume data into clear schedules and compelling narratives for stakeholders.
  • Identify and implement process improvements and automation opportunities throughout the close and reporting cycle.

Qualifications
What You'll Bring
Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 3-6 years of progressive accounting experience, including month-end and year-end close responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated expertise in U.S. GAAP and strong working knowledge of accounting principles and standards.
  • Proven proficiency in journal entry preparation, account reconciliations, and balance sheet analysis.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP/INDEX functions, and large-dataset manipulation.
  • Hands-on experience with ERP and general ledger systems.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, strong deadline management, and the ability to articulate the reasoning behind financial data and conclusions.

Preferred
  • CPA certification or active candidacy in the CPA program.
  • Industry experience in freight brokerage, 3PL, transportation, or other high-transaction-volume environments.
  • Demonstrated expertise in multi-entity consolidation and intercompany elimination processes.
  • Hands-on experience with Transportation Management Systems (TransportPro, Cargotel, or Tai).
  • Proficiency in data analytics and automation tools such as SQL, Power Query, or business intelligence platforms.
  • Supervisory or mentoring experience with junior accounting staff.
