JOB VACANCY #: JV 2026-11 THE POSITION OF: Auditing Coordinator DEPARTMENT/DIVISION OF: Office of the City Auditor CLASSIFICATION: N/A FLSA CLASSIFICATION: Exempt SCHEDULE: Full-Time (8:00 AM - 4:00 PM) SALARY: DOQ POSTING DATE: April 9, 2026 Qualified, interested candidates must submit an application and current resume. For questions email:gissell.vargas@readingpa.gov POSITION SUMMARY: The Auditing Coordinator must assure that City receives all revenues due and that timely and accurate expenditures are made. Recommend methods of improved efficiency accuracy and integrity for all City related operations and activities. They will be required to work with independent auditors in order to follow-up on implementation of audit recommendations. They will assist the City Auditor in review and determination of policy revisions or additions. They will have occasional contact with governmental agencies, divisions, companies etc. Must have analytical ability as well as ability to deal with people and make recommendations Typical job duties may include but are not limited to:
  • Coordinates internal financial and operational audit committee to assure satisfaction of City audit requirements.
  • Prepares in-depth audit reports for departmental review.
  • Works with independent auditors to follow-up on implementation of audit recommendations.
  • Interview employees and supervisors of various departments to gather information regarding a particular function.
  • Assist City Auditor in review and determination of policy revisions or additions.
  • Determines varied methods of auditing and is responsible for choosing the most appropriate method for a particular department.
  • Handles scheduling of departmental audits
  • Develops and writes audit procedures for inclusion in uniformed manual to be used within the City.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Educational / Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting with emphasis in auditing required.
  • Three (3) years accounting experience, public sector preferred.
