Job Summary & Responsibilities

The Systems Engineer will be responsible for engineering, support and administration of Telephony infrastructure and its associated software such as Asterisk, Free PBX & Maintaining Asterisk Based Phone System, VoIP Monitoring. You will be part of GEP’s IT core support team and serve as a technical Subject Matter Expert and technical leader for Microsoft Unified Communications design, deployment, implementation, and configuration of Microsoft Unified Communication product suites. In support of SFB solutions, your role focuses on planning, designing, implementing, optimizing, and supporting managed deployments and other converged unified communications solutions to meet GEP’s in-house and customer’s need. Additional support might include providing training and workshop activities, consulting services, and review of custom designs.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary design & implementation engineer for Microsoft Unified Communications portfolio.
  • Work with suppliers, customers and internal IT teams to properly design and deploy designed solutions.
  • Lead technical sessions with stakeholders and customers solution architects to discover requirements and develop solutions.
  • Extensive experience with Active Directory and Azure Active Directory.
  • Prepare project design and documentation.
  • Present solutions to clients and executives as needed.
  • Participate as a hands-on engineer on project deployments.
  • Mentor and develop junior engineers.
  • Maintain and develop relationships with Supplier partners such as TATA,SBC and AudioCodes.
  • Evaluate and recommend new technologies.
  • Maintain technical certifications as required.
  • Monitor FreePBX servers for their functionalities, Support VoIP infrastructure with upgrades and patching including but not limited to Asterisk, Free PBX
  • Support second and third tier escalations for all operational outages in VOIP.
  • Plan the specified designs per customer’s requirements and deliver quick enterprise solutions
  • Working knowledge and administration of Asterisk FreePBX , SIP Trunking, queues and IVRs & call flows
  • Assist in the migration from Skype for Business to Teams
  • Extensive hands on experience with most of all the following technologies: Windows 7 & 10, Windows Server 2008R2, 2012, 2016 & 2019, VMWare
  • Maintain technologies (including Active Directory, group policies, DNS, DHCP, etc.) to insure network server services and security to clients.
  • Extensive hands on experience with Office 365 (Azure AD, AD Connect, ADFS, Sharepoint online, OneDrive, Teams, Groups, InTune, PowerBI, ATP, E5 bundled applications and security features)

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Telecommunications Engineering, Networking, or related field.
  • 8+ years of experience with a technology vendor or systems integrator selling, designing, and implementing Microsoft UC systems and solutions.
  • Experience designing, implementing, and configuring enterprise Microsoft Skype for Business.
  • Polycom / Cisco / AudioCodes / SBC configuration experience.
  • Strong demonstrated skills in SFB technology, O365, SFB Online, O365 modules, server maintenance, LAN/WAN and firewall.
  • Industry and vendor specific certifications and training from Microsoft or Polycom or Cisco.
  • Candidate must have strong communications skills verbal as well as writing and experience to deal with senior stake holders on planning and escalation calls.
