This is an exciting time to work for Amarillo College! We are seeking our next Adjunct Faculty - Music Recording Arts who will be all-in on our mission and who will be responsible for teaching courses in audio production, sound recording, live sound reinforcement, music technology, and related Recording Arts disciplines. This position provides instruction, mentorship, and hands-on training to students pursuing careers in audio engineering and live production while supporting the recording, amplification, and technical production needs of the Music Department. Teaching responsibilities include classroom, studio, laboratory, and performance-based instruction; course preparation; assessment of student learning; and maintaining expertise in the subjects taught. This position may also oversee student audio production projects and support departmental performances, events, and recording activities.
This position is filled on an as need basis, contingent upon institutional needs.
Qualifications
EDUCATION:
Required: Associate's Degree or higher in Recording Arts, Audio Engineering, Music Technology, Music, or a related field.
Preferred: Bachelor's Degree or higher in Recording Arts, Audio Engineering, Music Technology, Music, or a related field.
An equivalent combination of military training, industry certifications, and years of professional industry experience may substitute for the educational requirements.
EXPERIENCE:
Required: One (1) year of professional experience with demonstrated teaching competence for the subject and levels taught. Professional experience includes composition, performance, conducting, audio mixing, etc., and is separate from teaching experience.

Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Develop and teach Recording Arts courses, including audio production, recording techniques, music technology, and live sound reinforcement.
- Prepare students for industry-recognized certifications, including various levels of Pro Tools certification.
- Provide instruction, mentorship, and supervision to students involved in recording, audio production, and live event support for Music Department performances and activities.
- Prepare and deliver engaging classroom, studio, laboratory, and performance-based instruction utilizing learner-centered teaching practices.
- Develop and maintain course syllabi in accordance with institutional guidelines and approved curriculum standards.
- Evaluate student learning through assignments, projects, recordings, performances, assessments, and other appropriate methods.
- Maintain accurate and timely records related to attendance, grades, and student progress.
- Meet with and advise students through office hours, appointments, electronic communication, or other appropriate methods.
- Participate in course and curriculum development, revision, assessment, and evaluation activities as assigned.
- Design and implement assessments that measure student learning outcomes and support continuous program improvement.
- Assist students with coursework, projects, internships, portfolio development, and experiential learning opportunities.
- Support recording, sound reinforcement, and technical production needs associated with departmental performances, concerts, recitals, and special events.
- Maintain recording studio equipment, audio systems, and related technologies in support of instructional activities.
- Attend meetings, trainings, orientations, and professional development activities as required.
- Perform other work-related duties as required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Demonstrated expertise in audio production, sound recording, live sound reinforcement, digital audio workstations, and music technology.
- Amarillo College utilizes Pro Tools as its primary production platform; applicants must demonstrate proficiency or a commitment to achieving advanced proficiency within six (6) months of assignment.
- Knowledge of recording studio operations, audio engineering principles, signal flow, microphone techniques, digital recording systems, and live production technologies.
- Experience teaching, mentoring, or supervising students in applied learning environments.
- Ability to train students in industry-standard recording, editing, mixing, and production techniques.
- Strong technical troubleshooting skills related to audio systems, recording equipment, and production software.
- Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to utilize learner-centered instructional methods and high-impact educational practices.
- Ability to integrate instructional technology and industry-standard software into the learning environment.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively while maintaining a high level of professionalism.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, and move throughout classroom, studio, laboratory, and performance environments. The employee must be able to lift, move, and set up audio equipment and materials weighing up to twenty-five (25) pounds.
Working Conditions: Must be willing to work a flexible schedule, including days, evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events as needed.
Work Environment: Work is performed in classroom, recording studio, laboratory, performance, online, and technology-supported learning environments. This position routinely utilizes audio production equipment, recording systems, microphones, speakers, mixing consoles, computers, instructional technology, and other standard classroom and office equipment.
