Job description

Location: Remote - Newbury Park, CA
Employment Type: Contingent Worker (Contract, W2)
Contract Length: 6 months (possible extension)
Compensation: $65/$80 per hour (based on experience)
Summary of the Role
Join the Global Internal Communications team at a large biotech pharmaceutical leader as an internal communications contractor. In this role, you will manage and optimize the Staffbase Studio platform, own the editorial calendar and execution for the enterprise weekly newsletter, and support a range of internal communications initiatives. You will play a key role in streamlining communication processes and ensuring editorial alignment with company brand guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee daily operations of Staffbase Studio, including troubleshooting, onboarding, support, and platform optimization
  • Document and maintain Staffbase processes and procedures
  • Create reporting and analytics for campaign effectiveness
  • Manage enterprise distribution lists and audience segmentation
  • Lead planning, scheduling, and publishing of the global weekly employee newsletter
  • Ensure communications align with brand guidelines and tone
  • Lead and support internal communications projects through all phases
  • Develop and track project plans and deliverables
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams for communication rollouts
  • Provide light copywriting, editing, and support for ad hoc communications

Required Experience & Skills
  • Recent, extensive experience with Staffbase Studio (email and intranet platforms, including recent upgrades)
  • Strong grasp of internal communications best practices
  • Expertise in audience segmentation and distribution list creation
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven project management abilities in communications initiatives
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications
  • 3-5 years in internal communications, preferably in a corporate or global setting
  • Demonstrated expertise in Staffbase for email, with audience segmentation and analytics
  • Technical expertise with Staffbase platform
  • Experience leading communications initiatives
  • Familiarity with employee engagement and change management concepts
  • Experience with Salesforce Marketing Cloud

Top 3 Must Have Skills
1. Extensive, recent experience using Staffbase Studio (email and intranet)
2. Strong understanding of internal communications best practices
3. Expert-level skills in audience segmentation and creating distribution lists
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
  • Onboard new staff to Staffbase Studio
  • Maintain and update the editorial email calendar
  • Create, test, and schedule emails for distribution
  • Build and maintain targeted distribution lists
  • Advise corporate affairs and business partners on communication strategies and best practices

Basic Qualifications
  • Doctorate degree
  • Master's degree and 2 years of experience
  • Bachelor's degree and 4 years of experience
