Job description

Firearms Material Handler

Rock Island Auction Company (RIAC), the #1 firearms auction house in the world, is searching for professional and reliable Firearms Material Handler. This position is responsible for handling some of the most rare and unusual firearms, military and historic collectibles by unpacking, moving, handling, and documenting all inventory received for consignment, as well as supporting on-site auctions. This is an onsite, non-exempt, full-time position with dedicated hours Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. โ€“ 5:00 p.m. CST at our Rock Island, IL facility, with overtime and weekend hours, as needed.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Processes incoming inventory using a high level of care and attention to detail.
  • Completes forms and logs electronically, demonstrating high attention to detail.
  • Tags, organizes and moves inventory throughout production area.
  • Applies subject matter knowledge of firearms to support inventory evaluation and customer inquiries.
  • Works expected overtime and required auction weekends and assists with auction duties such as floor and display set-up, security, and customer service.
  • Assists with pick up, transport, and/or delivery of auction items.

Qualifications:

  • Intermediate proficiency with computers (including Microsoft Office) and office equipment.
  • Ability to learn and apply ATF regulatory compliance and internal safety protocols.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and act with integrity.
  • Valid driver's license (non-CDL) required
  • Routinely moving and transporting up to 50 pounds. Traversing and moving for prolonged periods up to 100% of the time with frequent ascending, descending, or positioning self to maintain moving and transporting consignor items.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience in firearms industry, or equivalent knowledge of firearms highly preferred.
  • Prior work experience with supply chain management, inventory, material handling, or other related fields are highly preferred.
