Simon & Schuster is currently seeking a Shipping Coordinator to join our Distribution Center in Jackson, TN. This position will be responsible for overseeing daily outbound shipping operations within the warehouse.
Job Summary
The Shipping Coordinator oversees daily outbound shipping operations within the warehouse to ensure customer orders are processed, packed, and shipped accurately and on schedule. This position works closely with warehouse associates, carriers, and internal departments to coordinate shipments, resolve issues, and maintain efficient shipping workflows. The Shipping Coordinator supports operational efficiency, inventory accuracy, and high levels of customer service.
Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate daily outbound shipping activities to ensure timely and accurate order fulfillment
  • Prepare and review shipping documentation including bills of lading, packing lists, and carrier labels
  • Schedule shipments with carriers and arrange freight pickups
  • Communicate with internal teams (sales, customer service, operations) regarding shipping status and issues
  • Verify orders for accuracy before shipment, ensuring correct quantities and packaging
  • Monitor shipment tracking and resolve delivery issues or delays
  • Maintain shipping records and update warehouse management systems (WMS) or ERP systems
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, safety regulations, and shipping standards
  • Assist with inventory checks related to outbound shipments
  • Coordinate with warehouse staff to prioritize urgent or expedited orders
  • Identify opportunities to improve shipping efficiency and reduce costs

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent (associate's degree or higher preferred)
  • 2-4 years of experience in warehouse shipping, logistics, or distribution operations
  • Experience with warehouse management systems (WMS), ERP systems, and shipping software
  • Strong knowledge of shipping procedures, freight carriers, and logistics operations
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
