Simon Acumen is seeking an Editorial Assistant to support Editorial Director and Editor. Successful candidates have had some exposure to the publishing industry through internships or volunteer work, highly organized, strong communication skills, great attention to detail, and an ability to learn quickly. A positive attitude with a keen eye for problem solving and interest in the publishing industry as a whole is preferred. An interest in business books is necessary.
Responsibilities include:
  • Administrative support to editorial team including scheduling meetings and video conferences, filing expense reports, booking travel, award and prize submissions, galley and finished book mailings, and other administrative duties as needed.
  • Reading and assessing book proposals.
  • Read and evaluate manuscripts and give feedback to team.
  • Draft p&ls, acquisition materials, tip sheets, catalog copy, and flap copy
  • Familiarity with Chat GPT
  • Working across departments to manage workflow, using in-house systems and the Microsoft suite
