Position Description Summary/Purpose:

Goodwin University is seeking an Practical Nursing Curriculum Expert that can lead the design, evaluation, and ongoing refinement of practical nursing coursework. They will need to ensure curricula meets state board of nursing requirements, aligns with NCLEX-PN test plans, and prepares students to safely enter the workforce.

The ideal candidate can bridge clinical practice and academic theory. They can translate modern nursing standards into engaging classroom, lab, and clinical learning experiences. They can also collaborate with instructional designers, faculty, and administration to ensure course materials are accurate, industry-aligned, and structured to promote student success.

Essential Job Functions/Primary Responsibilities:

  • Designpractical nursing (PN) curriculum, learning objectives, and assessments to align with current clinical standards and state board requirements.
  • Ensure instructional materials match the latest NCLEX-PN test plan requirements.
  • Review digital content, textbooks, and interactive modules for medical accuracy, clarity, and practical relevance.
  • Collaborate with a team to translate complex LPN concepts into accessible, engaging formats for adult learners.
  • Develops ATI testing assessments to align with course learning outcomes.
  • Conducts all work in a safe manner and all work safety practices are followed.

Other Functions:

  • Performs similar or related work as required, directed or as situation dictates.
  • Assists other department staff as needed to promote a team effort.

Knowledge, Ability and Skill:

  • Demonstrated commitment to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion, and work in an environment in which all members of the University community are treated with respect and dignity.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, online collaboration, and learning-management tools (Canvas is preferred) are required.
  • Proficiency with ATI Nursing Education platforms including creating testing assessments is required.

Minimum Required Qualifications:

  • Active, unencumbered Registered Nurse license with a Bachelor's degree in Nursing or higher.
  • Minimum 2 years of direct clinical experience in long-term care, medical-surgical nursing, or similar practical nursing environments.
  • Strong understanding of current healthcare standards and excellent communication skills.
  • Previous experience as a didactic instructor, clinical instructor, or nursing preceptor is a significant asset.
  • Experience teaching and developing curriculum for a certificate in practical nursing.

Special Requirements:

  • This position offers the flexibility to work either fully remotely, on-site at our East Hartford, CT office, or through a combination of both. Reliable internet access and computer is required.
