Job description

Position Purpose/Summary:
The Manufacturing Technician II performs the failure analysis for final assembly and final test failures of X-ray tubes and high-voltage power supplies by performing product diagnostics to determine the root cause. This role requires expertise in the ability to recommend corrective actions in collaboration with design, manufacturing, and quality teams. This role is scheduled to fill the 2nd shift (2-10 p.m.).
Essential Duties:
  • Perform the failure analysis process for X-ray tube and power supply failures from the final assembly and final test processes.
  • Identify and confirm root causes of failures using structured problem-solving methodologies (Fault Tree Analysis, DOE, 8D).
  • Assist and support production operators with troubleshooting and diagnostic testing.
  • Provide technical troubleshooting assistance to the production supervisor and maintenance team.
  • Document test procedures and results to identify systemic issues in products and equipment.
  • Support scrap cost-reduction initiatives through process and design improvements.
  • Collaborate with the maintenance technicians to track and resolve equipment issues.
  • Maintain and calibrate test equipment and ensure lab/shop safety compliance.
  • Document test results and failure findings in standardized Company reports.

Key Competencies:
To perform the job successfully, the individual should demonstrate the following competencies to perform the essential functions of this position:
  • Analytical skills for correlating data, test results, and physical evidence (required).
  • Experience with SPC and other statistical analysis methods (required).
  • Experience with statistical analysis software like JMP, R, or Minitab (preferred).

Education and Experience:
  • Associate degree in Electronics, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or related field (preferred).
  • 2-4 years of experience in a manufacturing or engineering support role (preferred).
  • Green belt certified (preferred).
  • Experience performing failure and root cause analysis of assemblies.
  • Familiarity with X-ray systems, vacuum technology, or radiation safety (preferred).
  • Experience in using oscilloscopes, multimeters, and other diagnostic tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering documentation and BOMs.
  • Self-driven with strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.
