SYSTEM ADMINISTRATOR

Location: Fayetteville, North Carolina
Worksite: Special Operations Mission Training Center, Fort Bragg
Employment Type: Full-time
Security Clearance: Active Secret clearance required

Position Summary

The System Administrator administers, secures, monitors, troubleshoots, and maintains SOMTC server, virtualization, collaboration, and operating-system environments. This position supports Microsoft Server, VMware vCenter, SharePoint, Army and Joint Mission Command systems, and DoD cybersecurity tools.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer and maintain Microsoft Server environments.
  • Administer VMware vCenter and associated virtual machines.
  • Support SharePoint administration, configuration, and availability.
  • Configure, operate, secure, and maintain servers and operating systems.
  • Apply system, network, and operating-system hardening techniques.
  • Monitor system performance and implement performance improvements.
  • Diagnose server, system, and operating-system faults.
  • Use operating-system command-line and diagnostic tools to troubleshoot technical issues.
  • Configure and maintain NTFS, FAT, EXT, and related file-system implementations.
  • Support TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, and related network services.
  • Apply IT-security principles involving firewalls, demilitarized zones, encryption, and endpoint protection.
  • Support Joint and Army Mission Command systems, including TAK, CPCE, and SOF Mission Command systems.
  • Operate or support DoD cybersecurity tools, including ACAS, Army Endpoint Security Solution, Trellix, Microsoft Defender for Endpoint, and other applicable DoD security tools.
  • Support vulnerability remediation and system-security compliance.
  • Maintain technical documentation, system configurations, and operating procedures.

Required Education

  • Associate degree in an Information Technology-related field; or
  • Equivalent military technical training.

Required Experience and Technical Knowledge

  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Server environments.
  • In-depth knowledge of VMware vCenter.
  • Experience with SharePoint administration.
  • Experience with Joint or Army Mission Command systems.
  • Experience with ACAS, Army Endpoint Security Solution, Trellix, Microsoft Defender for Endpoint, or other DoD security tools.
  • Knowledge of system, network, and operating-system hardening.
  • Knowledge of NTFS, FAT, and EXT file systems.
  • Knowledge of firewalls, demilitarized zones, encryption, and related IT-security methods.
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP, DHCP, and DNS.
  • Ability to use system and server diagnostic tools.
  • Knowledge of virtualization technologies and virtual-machine management.
  • Experience monitoring and optimizing system performance.

Certification Requirements

  • Current certification meeting the requirements for the DCWF System Administrator, Work Role 451, at the Basic proficiency level.
  • Acceptable certifications include Security+ CE or CySA+.
  • The required certification must be maintained throughout employment.

Work Environment and Conditions

  • Work is primarily performed on-site in Government-controlled facilities.
  • Must comply with applicable DoD, Army, USSOCOM, USASOC, installation, cybersecurity, personnel-security, CAC, and information-system access requirements.
  • Mission requirements may require work beyond normal operating hours, occasional weekend support, surge support, or support for simultaneous events.
  • Telework requires prior Government approval.
  • Classified work is not normally authorized from an alternate worksite.
  • Occasional travel may be required to support mission activities.
