The Legal Operations Manager, Marketing, Brand & IP will support the Associate General Counsel - Marketing & Brand by managing the operational infrastructure that enables efficient legal support for Scout Motors' marketing, brand, and intellectual property programs.
This role is embedded within the Marketing & Brand Legal function and focuses on the systems, processes, and documentation that support marketing legal review, trademark portfolio coordination, brand protection efforts, and advertising claims substantiation. Working in close collaboration with Scout Motors' central Legal Operations team, this position will design and maintain workflows, knowledge resources, and reporting tools that allow the legal team to scale its support for high-volume marketing and brand initiatives.
What you'll do
Become part of an iconic brand that is set to revolutionize the electric pick-up truck & rugged SUV marketplace by achieving the following:
  • Manage and optimize the Marketing Legal Review intake and workflow system, ensuring requests are tracked, prioritized, and routed efficiently to attorneys
  • Coordinate operational aspects of Scout Motors' trademark portfolio, including tracking filings, renewals, and communications with outside counsel
  • Support brand protection and enforcement operations by monitoring watch-service alerts, conducting preliminary research, and tracking cease-and-desist and takedown activities
  • Build and maintain a centralized Advertising Claims Substantiation Library, documenting evidence supporting marketing claims and maintaining libraries of approved disclosures and disclaimers
  • Maintain Legal Guardrail playbooks and self-service resources that help marketing teams understand trademark usage, advertising compliance, and brand guidelines
  • Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency through automation and AI-enabled tools that support marketing legal review and trademark monitoring workflows
  • Develop dashboards and reporting tools to track legal request volume, enforcement activity, portfolio status, and operational metrics
  • Partner closely with marketing, product planning, engineering, and legal teams to maintain organized and scalable processes supporting brand and marketing initiatives

Location & Travel Expectations:
  • This role may be based out of the Scout Motors corporate headquarters in Charlotte, NC.
  • This role requires 4-5 days per week in the office, with regular in-person meetings and events.
  • Applicants should expect that the role will require the ability to convene with Scout colleagues in person and travel to participate in events on behalf of the company from time to time.

  • 8-12 years of experience in legal operations, intellectual property support, brand protection, legal program management, or paralegal work
  • Experience supporting trademark portfolios, advertising claims programs, or marketing legal teams strongly preferred
  • Experience working in a fast-paced in-house legal department or high-growth company environment
  • Familiarity with IP management systems (e.g., Maxval, Anaqua) and workflow tools (e.g., Jira, ServiceNow)
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Ability to conduct research and prepare clear summaries to support attorney decision-making
  • Experience managing documentation systems, knowledge libraries, or operational workflows
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment

Pay Transparency
This is a full-time, exempt position eligible to receive a base salary and to participate in an annual performance bonus program. Final salary offered will be determined based on factors including but not limited to the candidate's skills and experience. The annual performance bonus program is preset and not candidate dependent.
Initial base salary range = $140,000.00 - $170,000.00
