Job description
The Supplemental Staffing Team (SST) Registered Nurse (RN) assesses, analyzes, plans, implements andevaluates patient care following established patient care standards for Appalachian Regional Healthcare includingthose established by the Nurse Practice Act. The primary function of this role, based upon hired tier and floatoption, is to be available and flexible to float to various departments and/or hospital sites throughout ARHhealthcare locations within Kentucky and/or West Virginia. The SST RN is to provide patient care, which couldinclude but not limited to same day staffing assignments, more than one assignment location within a singleshift, travel assignments, seasonal staffing patterns or natural disaster/emergency response. Participates as amember of the Supplemental Staffing Team in cooperation with and under the direction of Director and/orClinical Nurse Manager or designee.Essential Job Functions:Supplemental Staffing Team RNs are hired with the understanding they must float based on at least one of theoptions below:Local: Float expectation within a single site based on competencyRegional: Float expectation within multiple sites within a single region based on competencyEnterprise: Float expectation within multiple sites across one or more regions that are >75 miles from RN'shome address and accepts assignments that range 2-13 weeks based on competency
Special InstructionsRegional: Float expectation within multiple sites within a single region based on competencyResponsibilities- In collaboration with providers, clinical care team members, patients and families (as defined by the patient) the Registered Nurse is responsible for evaluating, planning, directing and administering care to the patient. Implements a plan of care based upon established standards of care/practice, policies, and procedures, incorporating cultural, religious, psychosocial, physical, and age-related issues.
- Completes all required documentation accurately and within the required timeframe, as well as communicate clinical information with members of the multidisciplinary team.
- Possesses knowledge of medications and administers them safely and accurately.
- Appropriately delegates and supervises routine technical functions to non-licensed and licensed personnel.
- Embraces concepts and behaviors that enhance customer satisfaction and employee morale and improvement in the profession of nursing.
- In collaboration with the patient/family the RN evaluates patient outcomes and revises the patient's plan of care.
- Negotiates with the patient/family and health care team members to come to an acceptable resolution of conflicts resulting from patient care or organizational issues.
- Demonstrates an appreciation of the hospital mission by acting as a resource for employees, students, and residents.
- Is supportive of patient and family centered care, promoting that environment within the care provided. Includes family and patient in plan of care, providing teaching and support where needed.
- Incorporates the professional practice model into care delivery.
- Acts as a patient safety advocate by participating in ongoing quality improvement in the department.
- Performs other duties assigned by authorized personnel or as required to meet the needs of the facility and internal and external customers.
Education
Graduate from an accredited school of nursing. Associates Degree in Nursing Required Bachelors of Science in Nursing Preferred
Minimum Work Experience Two (2) years of clinical experience required. Three (3) years of clinical experience preferred.
