Position Description Camp and Special Interest Program Coordinator The Town of Marana is seeking a Recreation Coordinator (Camps & Special Interest Programs) to work in the Parks and Recreation Department.

This full-time position is responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervising a variety of camps and special interest programs that promote community engagement, creativity, lifelong learning, and healthy lifestyles. Program areas include the Re-MARC-Able Day Camp, LEGO Camp, Paint Night in the Park, Art Camp, and other recreation programs. The Recreation Coordinator oversees program operations, instructor support, participant engagement, marketing efforts, and program evaluation to ensure high-quality recreational experiences for the community.

Expected Hiring Range: $25.52 - $31.27 Salary Range: $25.52 - $37.01 Placement within the salary range is dependent on direct experience, internal equity and/or budget Examples of Duties Provides leadership and development to assigned staff; establishes goals and objectives; participates in the recruitment process, evaluates work performance, ensures policy and procedure compliance, and monitors employee relations matters. Monitors the day-to-day operation of planned and coordinated programs; coordinates and designs promotional and registration material; manages customer service inquiries. Coordinates use of department amenities with focus on recreation service delivery and public safety

Reviews and recommends recreational policies and procedures including budget recommendations; evaluates programs and recommends operational changes. Communicates and manages both internal and external users. Coordinates Camp and special interest programs, registration, and administration in assigned areas.

Creates, manages, and updates seasonal programs for the Town. Provides customer service by overseeing daily program operations, managing inquiries, and interacting with the public. Designs and distributes promotional and registration materials.

Supervises staff and ensures policy and procedure compliance. Manages facility cleanliness, safety, and maintenance. Acts as a liaison with external organizations, supporting facility users and establishing partnerships to enhance services.

Oversees budgeting, recommends policies, and evaluates programs for improvement. Manages reservation software and workplace standards. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or GED equivalency plus six months of additional education or training.

Over three (3) years' experience developing, implementing, scheduling and evaluating recreation programs. Over one (1) year supervisory experience or must complete the Town of Marana's supervisory academy within one year of hire date. An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience that provides the desired knowledge, skills & abilities to successfully perform essential functions may be considered.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Valid Arizona Driver License Ability to pass both the Town of Marana background check and a motor vehicle records check Must pass fingerprint clearance background check Must pass a pre-employment physical and a 25-pound lift test First Aid, AED and CPR certifications (or required within 6 months of hire) PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Associate's degree in Recreation Management, Physical Education, Sport Management, Sport Administration or another related field Strong organization skills and ability to manage program delivery. Excellent communication skills and ability to build community relationships Admin level experience with recreation software management Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint, Facebook, other social media, and any other relevant software experience as needed. Presentation skills to all levels of management.
