Position Summary:
The Simulation Operations Specialist supports the daily operations of both on-campus and mobile simulation labs. This role is responsible for the operation of simulation manikins and audiovisual (AV) systems, equipment maintenance, inventory management, transportation of the mobile simulation unit, and providing technical and educational support to faculty, staff, and clinical partners.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Safely operate and transport the mobile simulation unit to scheduled locations.

  • Monitor and maintain the mobile unit to ensure optimal operating condition, including fuel levels, tire pressure, brakes, lighting, and other critical systems; promptly report or address any issues.

  • Collaborate with the Manager of Simulation Operations to ensure all mobile unit events are executed as scheduled.

  • Coordinate equipment purchases in collaboration with the Simulation Manager and Campus President.

  • Set up, operate, and maintain simulation equipment, including manikins, computers, and AV systems.

  • Provide training and technical support to educators and troubleshoot equipment and system issues.

  • Perform routine maintenance and updates on IT equipment, simulation software, and AV systems.

  • Maintain accurate records of equipment inventory, maintenance, and software updates.

  • Communicate independently with equipment vendors and IT support as needed.

  • Support campus tours, demonstrations, and special events.

  • Assist with ordering, stocking, and maintaining laboratory supplies.

  • Ensure cleanliness and organization of simulation labs, including equipment, simulators, and linens.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills:
  • Preferred background in healthcare, information technology, or a related field.

  • Valid driver's license with a violation-free driving record.

  • Demonstrated experience operating large vehicles safely.

  • Knowledge of vehicle inspections and basic mechanical aptitude.

  • Certified Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist (CHSOS) certification preferred.

  • Strong organizational skills and a commitment to excellent customer service.

  • Effective communication skills across verbal, written, and electronic formats.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

  • Familiarity with simulation systems (e.g., Laerdal, Gaumard) preferred.

  • Ability to lift, move, and set up equipment weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance.
