Banner Health is seeking a strategic and solutions-oriented Associate General Counsel, Medical Staff Services to serve as a trusted legal advisor across the organization. POSITION SUMMARY

This position provides legal support and advice, including interpreting laws, rules and regulations, advising company personnel, negotiating and drafting agreements and other documents, and monitoring laws and regulations affecting the company.

CORE FUNCTIONS
  1. Assists management with a wide variety of projects requiring legal expertise, including negotiating and drafting contracts and other documents, reviewing and revising policies to maintain legal compliance, and advising and assisting with legal disputes.
  2. Assists in protecting the company’s legal interests and maintaining its operations consistent with the law. Provides hands‑on counsel. Identifies and analyzes legal issues, presents clear recommendations.
  3. Advises company officers, managers and employees of legal requirements pertaining to operations, including changes in laws and regulations, which may impact the company. Provides education and training to personnel on relevant topics impacting the company.
  4. Promotes and supports corporate compliance with company policies and federal, state and local governmental rules, regulations and laws.
  5. The scope of this position encompasses various legal requirements which impact the company. These principles are complex, fluid and must be applied to an ever‑changing environment.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • JD or LLB from an ABA accredited law school.
  • Bar admission and eligibility to practice in Arizona.
  • Five years' experience as a practicing attorney.
  • A working knowledge of personal computers, including word-processing skills.
  • Inter‑personal and professional skills to provide legal services in a useful manner to those at all levels of the organization.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Eight or more years as a practicing attorney, including at least five years in a law firm setting.
  • Three years' experience in health care law.
  • Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
